OSLC & TLC Sept. & Oct.
I pray that your
summer has been
a joyful one!
Life at church has
been an adven-
ture. We’ve had
activities and
celebrations that I’d like to share with
you.
In the spring, Matthew Homme and
Owen Davis enjoyed their first com-
munions. In the summer, we rejoiced
over the baptisms of Lucy and Skye
Greene, Kyra Rane Davis, and Astrid
Tomin. And we give thanks to God for
the lives of those who have gone before
us into heaven…Paul Eklof and Doro-
thy Byrne. I also want to thank you for
the beautiful celebration of my installa-
tion on June 9th.
The Boy Scouts have been a blessing to
both Trinity and Our Saviour over the
years. In June, Trinity hosted the Eagle
Scout Ceremony for Tristan
Danischewski. We are so proud of him!
Ethan Riddick took the summer to work
on his Eagle Scout project which is to
create a space for the Serenity Garden
located across the street from the school
building. We are so grateful to all who
have been guiding and helping our
young men with their projects.
In June, Lutherans from all over Staten
Island gathered at Pouch Camp for our
very first ELCA Staten Island Confer-
ence Worship and Picnic. It was won-
derful! Attendance was great. We tried
out a more contemporary worship style.
We had food and fellowship. As we
were cleaning up, there were many who
said that we should do this again!
Maybe next summer?
In July we held our shared ministry Va-
cation Bible School. Youth and adults
from First Lutheran Church in Faribault,
Minnesota came and ran our Bible
School with the help of our members.
We had so much fun! Thank you for all
you do to share the good news of Jesus’
love with our children. Also in July
about 60 of us attended a Staten Island
Yankees game. They lost, but we rooted
them on right through the very last in-
ning.
As I write this message in July for you
and by the time you’ve received this
newsletter other events and activities
will have past. Even now I look forward
to what God has in store for us. In Au-
gust, the Building Bridges Walk will
take place at Snug Harbor. This is one
of my favorite interfaith events of the
year. In September we will resume our
school year activities. Rally Day and
Sunday School and Confirmation are
OSLC & TLC Sept. & Oct.
just around the corner. Sounds like quite a few people have purchased the ELCA T
-shirts that we are planning to wear on Rally Day.
I look forward to seeing our properties as they continue to be spruced up. I want
to thank those who are working hard to make that happen!
I also want to encourage you to consider where God is calling you to serve in the
coming year. Maybe you’ve been on a committee for a long time and you’re
thinking about a new adventure or maybe you’ve never served on a church com-
mittee before in your life. We have various groups and committees that might be
fun to attend. Check them out this fall and consider how you might serve God
with your time.
May God Bless you and Our Saviour and Trinity in this coming year as we look
for ways in which to grow and love one another. Yes, this is a long message, but
it just goes to show, we are a busy community, alive and active. God is making
changes and molding us into new creations. Thank God for this tremendous en-
deavor!

GOD'S WORK ~OUR HANDS AT TRINITY
Rally day is Sunday, September 8th. At this time we traditionally join
committees and volunteer our services. Please take a minute to read
this list and see where you can add your talents. There is a lot of work
that God has laid out and it's our hands that are needed to make sure
it gets done!
PROPERTY COMMITTEE - This is a large plant to run and operate. If
you are able to swing a hammer, paint, decorate, garden this is the committee for you!
- see Tim Pranschke
OUTREACH COMMITTEE - Help visit the sick and shut-in. Greet and welcome new visi-
tors. Deliver flowers. Make phone calls. See Joan Phillips
FEEDING MINISTRY - Assist in the soup kitchen or the food pantry. Help with bagging
and receipt of food deliveries is desperately needed. See Jack Martz or Flo Haefner
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION -. Lets expand the Youth Group, Kids Club
and Sunday School! Keep our kids off the streets and on the straight
and narrow! Interested? See June Perrine
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE - Help set up and organize the new
"Breakfast Hour" as well as various functions. See Mary Ciccolella
USHERS AND GREETERS - We need folks and kids to join the Usher
and Greeters Committee. This is not a big commitment, only once a
month!
CHOIR - Like to sing? Like to ring? The Choir and Bell choir need you! These groups
meet weekly. See Val Reinertsen.
OFFICE - If you can help in the office putting the newsletter together, please call Karen
Schiels
ALTAR GUILD - The Altar guild needs help in setting and clearing the table for the
Eucharist. See Lorraine or Rich Schrader
FUND RAISING COMMITTEE - Do we have one? No! Do we want one? Yes! Interested?
Please let us know!

TRINITY LUTHERAN
OUR NEW WORSHIP TIME BEGINS
ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 AT
11:00 AM.
We will begin at 9:30 am with a self-serve continen-
tal breakfast. Please come down and have a bite to
eat, a cup of coffee/tea and fellowship. At 10:30 am
Sunday School will begin for all ages. Children will
go to their classes and the adults can have a Bible
Study led by George Skilbred. Worship will begin at
11:00 am with the children coming up with their
teachers later in the service.
We are doing this change so that Pastor Jennifer can
chat with Our Saviour parishioners after their 9:00
am service and then come over to Trinity and begin
our service.
Remember to turn your
Clocks back on Saturday
November 2nd.

What is WELCA? It’s an easy way to say Women of the Evangelical Lu-
theran Church in America. Quite a mouthful, we know. Our organization
includes Lutheran women who gather in over 7,000 locations in the U.S.
and the Caribbean, for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more!
WELCA embraces all kinds of ministries that support our mission of mo-
bilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. There is a
place for you in Women of the ELCA.
OUR MISSION & PURPOSE
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to disci-
pleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit
ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our
callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and whole-
ness in the church, the society, and the world.
What does our logo mean? Our logo—with the cross, water and a white
lily—identifies women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
as children of God; baptized, forgiven, adopted into God's family, full of
grace and hope in eternal life. It is a reminder of the growth, beauty, and
vitality that rises out of that life-giving baptismal water. It is also a re-
minder of the mission of the church to "Go, therefore, make disciples of
all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).
JOIN US EVERY SECOND THURSDAY OF THE
MONTH. OUR FIRST MEETING WILL BE
SEPTEMBER 12TH AT 7:30 PM AT TRINITY.
Rally day is Sunday, September 8th. At this time
we
Sunday, November 3rd

TLC—In the name of the Father and of the Son () and of the Holy Spirit… We celebrate with our sisters and brothers in Christ who have Baptismal Anniversaries in Sep-tember and October. Why not send them a card and let them know you are praying for them? We pray that you have a glorious Baptismal Anniversary.
On this day, you became a Child of God. On this day, you became a member of the Body of
Christ, a member of the Church, and part of the Communion of Saints. On this day God called you by
your name and promised to love you forever.

Trinity Lutheran’s
Tag Sale
Saturday, September 28th
10 am to 3 pm
Rain or shine
We are having a tag sale to help raise money for our youth who will be going to the next ELCA Youth
Gathering in Detroit. AND WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP!
We need household items, bric-a-brac, all types of furniture (no couches please), electronics (no com-
puters or TV’s please), small appliances, dish and glassware, jewelry, boutique tables, baked goods, toys
(no books please), sports equipment and much much more.
We need your help. Something as large as this does not take place unless everyone volunteers. Please
note that setting up for this tag sale can be done easily with a good turnout. We plan to be here Sept., 25,
26 and 27th at 6:30 pm to set up tables, receive items being brought in. If you could hold your items un-
til Sunday, Sept. 22nd it would be easier for us and will save on congestion. Last drop-off day will be
Thursday, Sept. 26th. This would enable volunteers enough time to setup and price the items before the
day of the sale.
Weather permitting we will also be having a car wash done by our youth. We are also planning to sell
light refreshments.
Please contact June Perrine or Karen Schiels for more information or to volunteer at

OSLC—In the name of the Father and of the Son () and of the Holy Spirit… We celebrate with our sisters and brothers in Christ who have Baptismal Anniversaries in May and June. Why not send them a card and let them know you are praying for them? We pray that you have a glorious Baptismal Anniversary. On this day, you became a Child of God. On this day, you became a member of the Body of Christ, a member of the Church, and part of the Communion of Saints. On this day God called you by your name and promised to love you forever.
WE WISH THE FOLLOWING OSLC MEMBERS A HAPPY BIRTHDAY
