COMLEX and USMLE
◦ Formulas to convert COMLEX to USMLE exist- Use Caution!
◦ The USMLE Step 1 scores, on average, were higher than those predicted by the
formulas derived by Slocum and Louder and by Sarko et al.
◦ Here is the link to the COMLEX-USA score converter. If an applicant includes a
COMLEX-USA transcript as part of their application, you will also find the score
converter link under the "Exams/Licenses" tab in View Applications.

![Page 11: OSTEOPATHIC UPDATES/FAQ'Spafp.com/Documents/2019_PDWksp_Osteopathic_Update.pdfOSTEOPATHIC UPDATES/FAQ'S Jackie Weaver-Agostoni, DO, MPH, FACOFP Program Director, UPMC Shadyside Family](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022052519/5f1ba9e7d484e05f7864074e/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Approval of non-AOA postdoctoral training
◦ If you completed residency or fellowship training in an ACGME program,
applying for AOA recognition of your training allows you to be eligible for AOA
board certification in your specialty. You’ll also need to obtain it if you:
◦ Plan to practice in Florida or Pennsylvania, since these states require DOs to have
completed an OGME-1 year in order to become licensed. (Michigan and Oklahoma
no longer require DOs to have completed an AOA-approved internship for
licensure.)
◦ Are a resident physician who is transferring from an ACGME residency program to an
AOA residency program.

Early Entry Certification (EEC)
• Starts Jan 2020
• Any PGY-3's who have "successfully complete two ACOFP in-service exams" (as
approved by the PD) can sit in January for an abbreviated/less expensive version of
the ABOFP exam.
• Practical will now be optional nationally• Certificates will either say Board Certified in Family Medicine or Board Certified in Family
Medicine and OMT.
• Passing the early exam will also fulfill the first 3 years of OCC requirements
(theoretically)
