SIZE UPThis years freshman class is the biggest and best in OU history! The class is the highest ranked in OU history and in Oklahoma history at a public university, with an average 26.4 ACT for incoming freshmen, and is the largest in OU history, with more than 4,175 students.

Coming Up Roses The Princeton Review

consistently ranks OU among the best in the nation in terms of academic excellence and cost for students.

With construction underway, OU will become one of the first public universities in the country to build residential colleges, providing living/learning communities forsophomores, juniors and seniors who choose to live on campus.

OU has produced 29 Rhodes Scholars; no other university in Oklahoma has had more than three.

OU is the only public university in the nation to be awarded the prestigious Davis Cup in recognition of its record-setting enrollment of United World College international freshmen. The University has won the award three consecutive years.


Dream UpGalileos World, an in-depth, interdisciplinary exhibition sponsored by OU Libraries that spans all three of the Universitys campuses, features tools, writings and manuscripts more than 400 years old and was developed as a way to reveal the organic connections between science and the arts. The new OU Libraries NavApp virtually guides users through the exhibits.

Up on TopIn 2015 OU became the first public university in U.S. history to be ranked No. 1 in freshman National Merit Scholars enrolled. With more than 750, the University ranks No. 1 in the nation among all public institutions in the overall number of National Merit Scholars enrolled.


Gear UpAs part of its effort to ensure that classrooms and study spaces continue to evolve as technology advances, the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education opened the Sandra L. OBrien Collaborative Learning Hub, which offers student group work spaces, individual study spots and access to classroom technology in a comfortable and functional environment. K-12 districts in the area bring their facility planners to the Hub to imagine creating similar spaces in their schools.

SPRUCED UPOU is the only Big 12 university to be selected as having one of Americas 25 most beautiful campuses.College Values Online ranks OU as one of the 10 most impressive historic college campuses in the country.


Up and ComingThe OU College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural group of first-year students to the School of Community Medicine in Tulsa. Students now can opt to complete all four years of medical school in Tulsa.

ALL DRESSED UPWhen the Pride of Oklahoma marching band donned much-needed new uniforms this past fall, it donated its old uniforms to the 20-member Sheema Pride Band in Uganda formed by an OU student.

Up to the TaskIn spring 2015, the University established the Office of University Community, which oversees all diversity programs within the University, and works with Admissions and Records and Student Affairs to help make campus life more inclusive.


Que Pasa? (Whats Up?)Nearly 10,000 people celebrated the centuries-old Latin American holiday Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos at a university-sponsored street festival and concert at Lloyd Noble Center. The festival included live music, folkloric dances, salsa performances and lessons, face painting, carnival rides and food trucks. A performance by one of Mexicos hottest pop stars, Grammy Award nominee El Dasa, highlighted the event.

Suit UpThe OU mens basketball and football teams simultaneously were ranked in the top three in the nation as their seasons overlapped in fall 2015.

Ramp UpCanyon Park Medical Group in Edmond became part of the OU Physicians practice. Now known as OU Physicians Canyon Park Family Medicine, providers and staff continue to serve patients with high-quality care at the same location.

Ride UpAs part of OUs One University digital initiative, apps have been developed that assist with campus parking and provide late-night taxi transportation to students.


UploadOU applies the worlds leading business techniques and strategies for data-driven decision-making, which impacts student success, lowers costs for students and their families and improves the overall college experience.

operation, OU Passport, an official passport application acceptance

facility located in Oklahoma Memorial Union, accepted more than 800 completed passport

applications for submission to the U.S. Department of State Passport

Services section for issuance determination. More than 125 of

those applications were for students preparing to

study abroad.


Fired Up At the School of Art and Art Historys annual Fuego Friday, members of the community participate in the ancient art of ceramics by painting a pot or vase made by OU art students and faculty and watching it change in the firing process.

Open UpDue to the temporary loss of 600 parking spaces to construction, OU Parking and Transportation Services initiated Park Free @ LNCto encourage commuter students, faculty and staff to park at Lloyd Noble Center and take a shuttle to central campus. The shuttles run every 10 minutes, ensuring that all riders get to class or work on time.

illnesses. The 2015 Soonerthon broke all records, raising a total

of $561, 268.

Serve UpThe OU mens tennis team claimed its first national indoor championship and competed in the title match of the 2015 NCAA Tennis Championships.

Bring UpDigital Days, a K-12 outreach program of the One University Digital Initiative, educates metro students and teachers about technologies coming to the classroom of the future. The program has reached more than 14,000 students since its February 2015 launch.


Somethings UpThe Sooner Discovery program targets high-achieving high school students motivated by challenging experiences. In this four-week program, students attend two college courses, evening programs and weekend trips exploring Oklahoma.

Start It UpStart Sooner, scheduled to launch in summer 2016, will provide incoming freshmen a unique experience that will help them transition from high school into college. Students will move into their residence hall a month early, attend Camp Crimson, take two classes and participate in social activities.

CURTAINS UPAs associate director of Native American and Indigenous Programs for the Sundance Institute, OU alumnus N. Bird Runningwater scouts the nation and world for Indigenous artists with projects that can be supported through the Institutes Feature Film Program, Documentary Program, Theatre Program, Independent Producers Conference, and Sundance Film Festival. He also oversees the Sundance Institute-Ford Foundation Film Fellowship established for emerging Native American filmmakers.


Stand Up and Cheer The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education and the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication were recognized as Apple

Distinguished Programs for the second and fourth time,

respectively.

Step Right UpThe new Dependent Child Tuition Waiver program waives tuition for undergraduate students who also are enrolled as dependents in the Universitys medical insurance plan.

Eat Up The OU community made 71,644 transactions at 10 campus food and beverage

venues through the mobile ordering app Tapingo.


Up and RunningIn May 2016, the OU in Arezzo Study Center will have a permanent home at the renovated 13th-century Santa Chiara Monastery, which features residence hall space with classrooms and other amenities. Study Centers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Puebla, Mexico, will open in summer 2016.

Write-up Meshack Asare of Ghana and Germany, considered to be one of the most important childrens authors and illustrators in the African region, was awarded the 2015 NSK Neustadt Prize for Childrens Literature. The prize, sponsored by OUs award-winning literary magazine World Literature Today, celebrates literature that contributes to the quality of childrens lives.

Word UpOU hosted acclaimed journalist Tom Brokaw, special correspondent for NBC News and New York Times best-selling author, who shared his Reflections on a Journalists Life and Expectations for the Future of Media with a record-breaking, standing-room-only audience.

STUPENDOUS STUDENT

OU senior Lucy Mahaffey is committed to wiping out human trafficking in Oklahoma and worldwide. She created

an online high school video curriculum on human trafficking that tells the story of an Oklahoma survivor. She also

co-founded an on-campus symposium called Off the Market: Putting an End to Human Trafficking.

AMP UPIn one of his first concerts on a college campus, eight-time Grammy Award-winner Jack White rocked a packed McCasland Field House in February.

Brush UpThe Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center has acquired the papers of Michael P. Flanagan, who represented Illinois 5th Congressional District from 1995 to 1997, and a set of rare negatives featuring candid photographs of the 1976 bicentennial celebration. The center houses the papers of more than 55 former members of Congress, making it the nations most comprehensive center for congressional studies.


UpwardOU is one of a small number of Division 1-A universities in the nation to receive the Changing Athletes Minds for Personal Success award for preparing student-athletes for life. The award is based

on academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, community service and career development.

Up Your AlleyThe College of International Studies launched an online Master of Arts in Global Affairs, which also includes a summer 2016 study abroad experience in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Build UpThe Native American Studies program in the College of Arts and Sciences was granted full department status to provide additional resources and academic opportunities for students on the Norman campus. The University, which ranks in the top five in the nation in the number of undergraduate degrees conferred to Native American students according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, also has created a Native Nations Center under the leadership of a Chickasaw Nation member.

National Jurist Magazine. OU College of Law graduates exceed the statewide first-time bar pass rate by 16 percent.

Looking UpLaunched in 2014 in celebration of OUs 125th anniversary, the Live On, University campaign is raising private funds to support scholarships and fellowships for our students, honor and reward great teachers, sustain programs that improve the health of our citizens, make civic education an integral part

of the college experience, preserve and maintain our priceless cultural resources, and ensure our students

are prepared to compete in the global community. This remarkably successful campaign will conclude at the end of 2016.


Cloud UpGary Englands Tornado Alley, a popular online series created to allow people of all ages to better understand and prepare for Oklahomas weather, was translated into Spanish and launched in October on Janux, OUs online interactive learning community. El Callejn del Tornado de Gary is available on YouTube through the Janux channel.

Wheels UpOU Outreachs Sooner Flight Academy

received a grant from the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to provide more than $50,000 in scholarships

and curriculum support for childrens programs that teach the principles of

flight through science and math. The SFA serves more than 10,000 students a year.


Line UpThe three-month exhibition Immortales: The Hall of Emperors of the Capitoline Museums at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art was so popular its run was extended an additional three months. The exhibition brought to the United States for the first time a selection of 20 busts from the collection of the worlds oldest museum, the Capitoline in Rome, and offered a survey of Roman portraiture from the age of Augustus (1st century, B.C.) to the late Roman Empire (5th century, A.D.).

Whip UpThe OU Office of Technology Development stimulates the creation of intellectual propertyand manages the resulting assets. Since 1998, the OTD has evaluated more than 1,000 pieces of innovation, secured more than 2,000 patents, licensed 120 technologies andlaunched 35 companies that havecreated jobspaying on average nearly twice the median household income in Oklahoma. In FY2015, OU was awarded 12 U.S. patents and five foreign patents, entered into 10 commercial license agreements, and filed 76 new domestic and international patent applications.

Shape UpThe Department of Fitness and Recreation and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History joined to offer yoga, Pilates and tai chi at the museum for members of OUs Huston Huffman Fitness Center.

Wrap UpFaculty, staff and visitors to Monnet Hall, home to the Western History Collections and Carl Albert Center, donated 20 of the record-setting 23 bicycles collected for OU Parking and Transportations annual Fill the Trolley event. Through Fill the Trolley, toys are delivered to children in need during the holiday season. More than 50 OU departments contributed toys during the two-day event.

Created by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature in 1890, the University of Oklahoma is a doctoral degree-granting

research university serving the educational, cultural, economic and health-care needs of the state, region and

nation. The Norman campus serves as home to all of the universitys academic programs except health-related

fields. The OU Health Sciences Center, which is located in Oklahoma City, is one of only four comprehensive

academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. Both the Norman and Health Sciences

Center colleges offer programs at the Schusterman Center, the site of OU-Tulsa. OU enrolls more than

30,000 students, has more than 2,700 full-time faculty members, and has 21 colleges offering 171 majors at the

baccalaureate level, 152 majors at the masters level, 79 majors at the doctoral level, 32 majors at the doctoral

professional level, and 35 graduate certificates. The universitys annual operating budget is $1.8 billion.
