OUR LADY OF FATIMA AUGUST 25, 2019

La Puerta Angosta Camino a Jerusalén, Jesús continua enseñando por ciudades y pueblos. De entre la gente, alguien le pre­gunta: “Señor, ¿es verdad que son pocos los que se salvan?” Por la forma en que está construida la pregun­ta se esperaría una respuesta corta o un monosílabo. Jesús no dice ni sí ni no. Como otras tantas veces, recu­rre a las imágenes, a ejemplos sen­cillos de la vida cotidiana. Habla de una puerta angosta. No habla de cantidades ni de elegidos, ni siquie­ra dice lo que hay del otro lado de la puerta; pero invita a que uno se esfuerce por traspasarla. Con esto Jesús quiere quitar las falsas segu­ridades de aquellos que se sienten “privilegiados” o piensan que ya la tienen hecha. Jesús quiere dejar cla­ro que no hay reservado de mesa o puertas amplias para entrar al banquete del Reino. Todos están llamados, todos están invitados, pero la puerta es angosta y hay que esforzarse por entrar. La pedagogía de Dios no está hecha solo de dulzura, encontramos pala­bras fuertes: “No sé quiénes son ustedes... les aseguro que no sé quiénes son ustedes”. Aquellos que se sentían de casa, que creían conocer de cerca al Señor, que comieron y bebieron con él, y escucharon sus enseñanzas, ahora encuen­tran la puerta cerrada y, para sorpresa o desconcierto de ellos, pasan a ser unos desconocidos. “Apártense de mi todos ustedes los que hacen el mal”, es la res­puesta que obtienen éstos a los ruegos por entrar. Por si fuera poco, Jesús les habla del llanto y la desesperación: “Entonces llorarán ustedes y sé desespera­ran, cuando vean a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el Reino de Dios, y ustedes se vean echados fuera”. Palabras fuertes que a veces usa el padre para corregir al hijo. “Vendrán muchos del oriente y del poniente, del norte y del sur, y participa­ran en el banquete del Reino de Dios. Pues los que ahora son los últimos, serán los primeros; y los que ahora son los primeros, serán los últimos”. Con estas palabras Jesús alude a la universalidad del Reino de Dios. La salvación no viene de una sim­ple cercanía física con Jesús, de haber comido o bebido con él, de haberlo escucha­do en las plazas. Tampoco viene de pertenecer a un determinado pueblo, raza, o cultura. La salvación viene cuando aceptamos a Jesús y vivimos los valores del Evangelio: la justicia, la generosidad, la atención al prójimo. Esa es la puerta estre­cha. La puerta que todos, absolutamente todos, estamos invitados a traspasar. Salmo Responsorial: Salmo 116

Vayan por todo el mundo y prediquen el Evangelio.

The Narrow Door On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus continues teaching for cities and towns. Among the people, someone asks: "Lord, is it true that few are saved?" By the way the question is constructed, a short answer or a monosyllable would be expected. Jesus says neither yes nor no. Like many other times, I refer to the images, to simple examples of everyday life. Talk about a narrow door. He does not speak of quantities or of elect, nor does he even say what is on the other side of the door; but it invites one to strive to transfer it. With this, Jesus wants to remove the false safety of those who feel “privileged” or think they have already done it. Jesus wants to make it clear that there is no reserved table or large doors to enter the banquet of the Kingdom. Everyone is called, everyone is invited, but the door is narrow and we must strive to enter. The pedagogy of God is not only made of sweetness, we find strong words: "I don't know who you are ... I assure you I don't know who you are." Those who felt at home, who thought they knew the Lord closely, who ate and drank with him, and listened to his teachings, now find the door closed and, to their surprise or bewilderment, become strangers. “Let all of you who do evil be separated from me,” is the response they get to the entreaties to enter. As if that were not enough, Jesus speaks of crying and despair: “Then you will cry and be desperate, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, and you are thrown out " Strong words sometimes used by the father to correct the child. “Many will come from the east and the west, from the north and from the south, and will participate in the banquet of the Kingdom of God. For those who are now the last, will be the first; and those who are now the first will be the last ”. With these words Jesus refers to the universality of the Kingdom of God. Salvation does not come from a simple physical closeness with Jesus, from having eaten or drunk with him, from having heard him in the squares. Nor does it come from belonging to a particular town, race, or culture. Salvation comes when we accept Jesus and live the values of the Gospel: justice, generosity, attention to others. That is the narrow door. The door that everyone, absolutely everyone, is invited to go through. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 117

Queenship of Mary

In this feast, particularly cherished by the Popes of modern times, we celebrate Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Earth.

Pope Pius XII in the Papal Encyclical Ad Coeli Reginam proposed the traditional doctrine on the Queenship of Mary and established this feast for the Universal Church.

Pope Pius IX said of Mary's queenship: "Turning her maternal Heart toward us and dealing with the affair of our salvation, she is concerned with the whole human race. Constituted by the Lord Queen of Heaven and earth, and exalted above all choirs of Angels and the ranks of Saints in Heaven, standing at the right hand of Her only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, she petitions most powerfully with Her maternal prayers, and she obtains what she seeks."

And Pope Pius XII added the following: "We commend that on the festival there be renewed the consecration of the human race to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Upon this there is founded a great hope that there will rejoice in the triumph of religion and in Christian peace...

...Therefore, let all approach with greater confidence now than before, to the throne of mercy and grace of our Queen and Mother to beg help in difficultly, light in darkness and solace in trouble and sorrow...

. . Whoever, therefore, honours the lady ruler of the Angels and of men - and let no one think themselves exempt from the payment of that tribute of a grateful and loving soul - let them call upon her as most truly Queen and as the Queen who brings the blessings of peace, that She may show us all, after this exile, Jesus, who will be our enduring peace and joy."

Magnificat

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my savior; he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed; the almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name. He has mercy on those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm and has scattered the proud in their conceit, Casting down the mighty from their thrones and lifting up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good thing and sent the rich away empty. He has come to the aid of his servant Israel, to remember his promise of mercy, The promise made to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children for ever.

Fiesta de Maria la Reina

“Es una Reina que da todo lo que posee compartiendo, sobre todo, la vida y el amor de Cristo”, dijo San Juan Pablo II al referirse a la Virgen como Reina del Universo. La Fiesta fue instituida por el Papa Pío XII en 1954.

En la Encíclica “Ad Caeli Reginam” (punto 15), que trata sobre la dignidad y realeza de María, se lee que “Cristo, el nuevo Adán, es nuestro Rey no sólo por ser Hijo de Dios, sino también por ser nuestro Redentor”.

“Así, según una cierta analogía, puede igualmente afirmarse que la Beatísima Virgen es Reina, no sólo por ser Madre de Dios, sino también por haber sido asociada cual nueva Eva al nuevo Adán”.

Por su parte, el Papa Benedicto XVI mientras celebraba esta Fiesta en el 2012 dijo que María “es Reina precisamente amándonos y ayudándonos en todas nuestras necesidades, es nuestra hermana y sierva humilde".

He aquí una de las tantas razones por las cuales el Papa Francisco ha twiteado este mes pequeñas oraciones de súplica a la Madre de Dios por la paz en el mundo y en especial por los cristianos en Medio Oriente.

Como la del 14 de agosto que dice: “María, Reina de la paz, ayúdanos a erradicar el odio y a vivir en armonía”. O la del día siguiente, en la que pide a María, Reina del Cielo, que nos ayude a transformar el mundo según el designio de Dios.

Magnificat

Proclama mi alma la grandeza del Señor, se alegra mi espíritu en Dios mi Salvador, porque ha mirado la humillación de su esclava.

Desde ahora me felicitarán todas las generaciones porque el Poderoso ha hecho obras grandes por mí. Su nombre es Santo y su misericordia llega a sus fieles de generación en generación.

Él hace proezas con su brazo, dispersa a los soberbios de corazón. Derriba del trono a los poderosos y enaltece a los humildes. A los hambrientos los colma de bienes y a los ricos despide vacíos.

Auxilia a Israel su siervo, acordándose de su santa alianza según lo había prometido a nuestros padres en favor de Abrahán y su descendencia por siempre.

Gloria al Padre y al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo como era en principio ahora y siempre por los siglos de los siglos. Amen.

Pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy Shrine. Fr. Rolands is inviting all parishioners to join and be part of this pilgrimage to the shine of the Divine Mercy in Massachusetts on Saturday, September 7, 2019. If you’re interested, please contact our office during the week 10am - 7 pm and let us know to reserve your spot on the bus. Everyone is welcome.

Registrations for the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation are still going on. Time is getting closer for the end of registrations. For children who are not baptized and are entering first communion, we need the certificate of birth. For children who are baptized we will need the certificate of baptism. You’ll need to fill a form, present a copy of the certificate (birth or baptism) and the pay for the books and material which will be used through out the course. The bulletin ceased to be printed from the Liturgical Publishing company as of August 4, the cost of the printing the bulletin was increasing and the sponsors were not enough to cover the cost. We are now printing the bulletins at our office. If you have a business who would like to publish in our bulletin and at the same time help with the cost of printing the bulletin on house , please give us a call and speak to father Rolands. Your assistance in printing this bulletin is greatly appreciated.

Bishop Arthur Serratelli will be doing a Pastoral visit to our Parish tonight, Saturday, at 7:00 PM. We give him thanks for his visit and all the blessings he brings to this humble community. We will always remember him in our prayers so that God will continue to guide him to be our Good Shepherd in our Diocese. May God Always Bless our Bishop Serratelli.

El Padre Rolands está invitando a todos los que quieran participar de esta peregrinación al Santuario de la Divina Misericordia en Massachusetts que será el sábado 7 de septiembre. Siempre estamos ansiosos por tener nuevos miembros en los diferentes ministerios parroquiales. El boletín se dejó de imprimir con la compañía Liturgical Publishing y ahora lo imprimimos en casa, el costo anual de este boletín estaba subiendo de precio y los patrocinadores no eran suficientes para cubrir los gastos.
