Conversion of Heart ��

"While he was praying His face changed

in appearance and His clothing became

dazzling white" (Lk 9-29.)

Transfigure toward mercy by accepting

it. We oftentimes don't understand

God's mercy in our lives. We are

limited in our understanding, and our

perception of our motives and those of

others can only go so far. We try to

live lives of peace and order, but some-

times our own plans don't work out

and we end up hurting others. As

Catholics, our job isn't to understand

God's Mercy; it is to accept it. When

we do this well, we come to a deeper

understanding of how God works in

our lives. It is only through this

acceptance that we can truly see as

God sees, which enables us to do as

God does by offering that same mercy to those who are most

in need of it, none needier than ourselves. For Reflection:

† Is God's will for your life clear to you right now?

† Have you seen God work through the unplanned events

in your life?

† Do you find it easy to accept God's mercy?

Prayer:

Lord, I am not worthy to be called your servant, but

nevertheless, I am. Allow me to accept your mercy with

humility and purity of heart so that I may reach others to

do the same. Strengthen me in my weakness and allow me

to overcome my imperfections so that I might better

imitate your Son to whom I am forever in debt. Amen.

week, social media, streaming videos, or other forms of digital

entertainment. Take that time to pray and reflect.

“They Say… You Say…”

If you ever have the opportunity to attend a

seminar called “They Say… You Say…” instructed by Oliva

Gans Turner, you must attend! It is a very informative and

inspiring session. The seminar contains some tips on having

constructive conversations about abortion and much more.

People will normally take away from an abortion discussion

60% what it looked like, 30% sounded like, and 10% the

words said. This is the “60-30-10 Factor”. This is why it is

important to smile and listen which are the most powerful

tools for communicating. It is also important to note the

words you use. Instead of ‘choice’, say ‘decisions’, ‘alternatives’,

or ‘options’. Don’t say ‘clinic’, ‘hospital’ or ‘mill’ when referring

to an abortion facility. By choosing our words wisely, we

can more effectively create the image and message we want to

Trivia Night is sponsored by the Religious Education Program, which

program is directed by OUR wonderment --- Donna Kohn. She and her

husband, Mike Kohn, began planning for this event in September, 2018,

and gave countless hours of work up to and through the end of day of

"Trivia Night". And, all the while preparing and implementing our

regular Monday classes. Donna, Mike, and Sandi "Thank you" for

everything! The Religious Ed Teachers.

I would like to take a moment to extend my deepest

gratitude to Donna and Mike who played a pivotal role

in the success of our OLL Trivia Night fundraiser. They

worked tirelessly for several months to pull off such an

outstanding event. Together, they worked long hours

often way past when most of us were tucked in to go

to bed. The raffles, silent auction items, posters,

decorations, PowerPoint, script for the emcee, and

coordination of many activities that go on behind the

scenes were put together as a result of their teamwork

and months of effort. Their abounding efforts and

passion for supporting our church and inspiring our

youth to learn about the love of God is to be commend-

ed and admired. Donna and Mike lead our parish youth

ministries with enthusiasm and such a deep devotion. I

am, and forever will be, grateful for their role in my life

and their involvement in our parish.

I would also like to personally thank all those volunteers

who came out that night to help run this event. It would

not be possible without the efforts of each one of you!

Everyone was wearing multiple hats and were willing to

pitch in wherever it was needed even long past when

the guests went home. The event ran smoothly and the

community shared lots of laughs throughout the night.

It was a great night for others to see our parish alive

with excitement!

Special thanks to all those who came out to play and

help support this event. The event was our largest

crowd yet! The 2019 Trivia Night was sold out with 32

tables and there were 8 players at most tables. They

gave generously and as a result we raised over

$9,000 for our parish! Forever grateful,

I could never have imagined a more perfect fit than Donna and

Mike Kohn as leaders of the Our Lady of Loretto's Religious Ed

Program. They have overseen so many children's spiritual

guidance, including my own, of which I am truly grateful. Even

though it took Donna many years to pronounce our name

correctly, the love and concern they have for every child and

family is incredible. We are so lucky to have them in our lives,

The Church encourages us to

be devoted to Joseph because

he was a model in the heroic

practice of all the virtues. The

example of virtuous living that

he gave in the exact fulfillment

of the duties of his state of life

is worthy of our reflection.

Read the gospel and you will

see his faith, hope and charity

practiced under trying circum-

stances. He was prudent in caring for his wife and the child;

he showed great leadership in protecting them and assisting

them. He was religious in every sense, with that delicacy and

sincerity of conscience that is proper to the saints of God.

He was just in his dealings with God and man. He was con-

spicuous for his fortitude and courage. He was truly outstand-

ing in the practice of virginal chastity. More: he protected

and defended Mary's virtue in the time of courtship and all

during their life together. Time and again the Church has

made it clear that Joseph is not a saint for only a certain num-
