T he history of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church dates to 1904. The old church on South Sixth Street was dedicated in 1909 and we moved to our current home in 1994 with our expansion growing our building in 2009. Due to the faith, volunteer spirit and generosity of our parish family we have much to be thankful for. Over the last few months, parish leadership has identified several critical funding needs of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and surveyed our parish family to gather feedback. The results of that survey indicated the need for outreach to the poor of our community, reduction of the parish debt and establishment of a maintenance fund (in that order of priority). The Home campaign is a perfect opportunity to address our parish’s needs while also supporting the growth of the Catholic Church in East Tennessee. Your prayerful consideration of support for the campaign will have enormous impact on current and future generations of OLPH parishioners and Catholics throughout the Diocese of Knoxville. Please see the back of this brochure for more details about our parish projects. Extend Outreach to the Poor | $25,000Helping the needy of Campbell County should be a vital part of our parish ministry. Funds from this campaign will allow us to address the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Many members of our parish are active in the local food pantry, educational assistance and numerous other local charities – volunteering both their time and resources. Our parish campaign funds will permit us to increase our activities and our impact on those in our community most in need our help. When partnering our funds with matching funds from the Pope Francis Charitable Trust Fund, our impact on our community will be even greater.

Reduction/Elimination of Parish Debt | $35,000Our current debt for the expansion of our church is roughly $42,000. Though the interest rate is relatively low, the interest on that debt is a constant drain on the parish’s funds. Reduction or elimination of this debt will allow us to address other needs and desires of our parish family.

Establish Maintenance Reserve Fund | $29,000As our church and associated facilities age, more maintenance has been and will be required, including major equipment failures and replacement of other major items. These items include, but aren’t limited to, HVAC unit, electrical, roofing and water heaters. This fund for future needs would protect our parish from having to take out a loan and/or use funds normally dedicated to other important ministries.
