From your Pastor… On the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, we are remind-ed of our own baptism. We may remember the date on which we were baptized and who were our sponsors. How many of us recognize our baptism as the most important day of our lives? It is because that is the day when we entered into the very life of God by becoming part of his family and members
of his Church. This is the very day that changed our lives. Following baptism, we entered a world that never ends, a world full of grace, of justice, and of peace. As Scripture says, “We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life” (Rom 6:4). The catechism of the Catholic Church says our baptism is the entry into a life of faith.
I was personally baptized on December 25th in Queserí a, Colima in Mexi-
co. On this day my life was totally changed, and as is true for all of us, on this same day, the life of the whole world was changed. I feel my baptism is not only memo-rable for being baptized but also because on that very day we celebrate Jesus being born for the whole world – to bring light and life to all. My sponsors were Salvador Ochoa and Noelia Zepeda. My sponsors never left me alone in my spiritual journey. I have always felt very close to them and have experienced their spiritual support not only in word but also by their own example.
On the day of my baptism, my life was transformed, and I received the
strength and the beauty of our Catholic faith. I initially lived out my faith in my particular parish in Queserí a. At the age of 6, I attended my first retreat with my mom who was a catechist. After that retreat I remember becoming an acolyte, be-ing part of the choir and becoming a lector. At the age of 14 I gave my first talk to about 400 young adults, and finally, at the age of 17 I entered the seminary. This was a beautiful journey because I not only learned about our faith, but I had the experience of feeling the presence of God in my heart. I am thankful for my bap-tism, my membership in the Catholic Church and I thank God for claiming me as part of his mystical body.
As we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, let us also celebrate our own bap-
tism and ask God to help us to live out our lives as good Christians so we might join him in heaven at the end of our pilgrimage here on earth.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS R.C.I.A. IN SPANISH
The Spanish adult formation classes will begin in January. These classes are for adults who have not
received the sacraments of Baptism, First communion and/or con-firmation. Please call the office to register or for more information.

De parte de su Pastor… En la Fiesta del Bautismo del Sen or se nos recuer-da nuestro propio bautismo. Tal vez recordemos la fecha en que nos bautizamos y quie nes fueron nuestros padri-nos. ¿Cua ntos de nosotros reconocemos nuestro bautismo como el dí a ma s importante de nuestra vida? Lo es, porque ese es el dí a en que entramos en la vida misma de Dios al convertirnos en parte de su familia y miembros de su Igle-
sia. Es este dí a precisamente el que cambio nuestras vidas. Despue s del bautis-mo, entramos en un mundo que nunca acaba, un mundo lleno de gracia, justicia y paz. Como dice la Escritura, "Por este bautismo en su muerte fuimos sepultados con Cristo, y así como Cristo fue resucitado de entre los muertos por la Gloria del Padre, así también nosotros empezamos una vida nueva." (Rom 6: 4). El catecismo de la Iglesia Cato lica dice que nuestro bautismo es la entrada a una vida de fe.
Me bautice el 25 de diciembre en Queserí a, Colima en Me xico. En este dí a mi vida cambio totalmente, y como es cierto para todos nosotros, en este mismo dí a, la vida de todo el mundo cambio . Siento que mi bautismo no solo es memorable por haber sido bautizado, sino tambie n porque ese mismo dí a cele-bramos el nacimiento de Jesu s en el mundo, para traernos luz y vida a todos. Mis padrinos fueron Salvador Ochoa y Noelia Zepeda quienes nunca me dejaron solo en mi jornada espiritual. Siempre me he sentido muy cerca de ellos y he experi-mentado su apoyo espiritual no solo de palabra sino tambie n con su ejemplo.
El dí a de mi bautismo, mi vida se transformo y recibí la fuerza y la belle-
za de nuestra fe cato lica. Inicialmente viví mi fe en la parroquia de mi pueblo. A la edad de 6 an os asistí a un primer retiro con mi mama quien era catequista. Despue s de ese retiro recuerdo convertirme en aco lito, forme parte del coro y participe como lector. A los 14 an os di mi primera charla a unos 400 jo venes y, finalmente, a los 17 entre al seminario. Esta jornada fue hermosa porque no solo aprendí sobre la fe, sino que tuve la experiencia de sentir la presencia de Dios en mi corazo n. Estoy agradecido porque por el bautismo soy miembro de la Iglesia Cato lica y agradezco a Dios por reclamarme como parte de su cuerpo mí stico.
Mientras celebramos el Bautismo del Sen or, celebremos tambie n nues-
tro propio bautismo y pidamos a Dios que nos ayude a vivir nuestras vidas como buenos cristianos para unirnos a E l en el cielo al finalizar de nuestro peregrinaje aquí en la tierra.
