SPEAK, LORD, WE ARE LISTENING In today’s first reading God keeps calling out in the night to a sleeping boy. Neither the boy, Samuel, nor his teacher, Eli, understands who is calling. But God’s persistence convinces them. Samuel is then ready—not ready yet to do anything, but ready to listen. “Speak, for your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:10). In the Gospel Jesus is out teaching. Various people notice him and begin to gather around. They soon become disciples and, like the young Samuel, are ready—not ready yet to do anything, but ready to listen. “Speak,” they say, “we are listening.” God’s voice is always with us, awake or asleep. It swirls around us like fog on a waterfront, enveloping us, gently urging us to wake up, to listen. Awareness of the voice comes first; then willingness to listen; then, in time, the decision to act, to live according to God’s word. Let’s ask today for the ability to keep our ears open so we don’t miss God’s voice. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

    YOUNG ADULTS MINISTRY

    Dear Parents and Grandparents,

During ages of 18 to 26, young people are faced with many choices: lifestyle, educational pursuits, relationship pursuits. They are becoming responsible for what they do, how they live and perhaps who they wish to have as part of their lives in the years ahead. They can feel overwhelmed and unmoored and their faith can be challenged.

In these transition times, Our Lady of the Snows’ Young Adults can provide information on the many meaningful, supportive and fun activities available to them through the church. We will deliver a welcoming basket for your young adult (child or grandchild) to show we are there for them and we care. If you could provide us with a name and address of your child or grandchild, we would like to deliver - in person - a basket of welcome and good wishes. Please email name and address to [email protected] or call 775-323-6894 ext.520.

    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – SNOW REMOVAL

In order for our parishioners to make their way safely from where they park to masses on the weekends, we try to shovel

    walkways and sprinkle ice-melt.

If you can spare a few minutes — at least 30 minutes — be-fore mass start times, please consider being part of this vol-unteer Snow / Ice Removal team. No need to pre-register…just show up. If you remember to bring a snow shovel, that helps, too.

As with all volunteer activities, we ask that you put your name in the binder located in the book shelves in the vestibule.

The Project Rachel ministry can refer mothers to these resources, in addition to post-abortion resources. Find out more about us at www.renodiocese.org. Click on Our Works, scroll down, click on Project Rachel. Contact our confidential, nonjudgmental helpline at 775-324-4325 or email [email protected] to take advantage of valuable resources.
