We are already starting the second month of the new year!. Last year was a great suc-cess. Chancellor’s Report Brothers, February, 2015 Can you believe that the first month of 2015 has already passed us by? Where does the time go to? If you are anything like me, there never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything I need to do done. The best advice I can give to that is, just do your best and turn the rest over to Jesus. Trust in the will of God. If it is meant to be it will happen. I al-ways find that prayer is the best way to relax and to ease the stress of a busy day. Try it when you are all tense and things aren’t going the way you would like it. Ask the Blessed Mother to bring you the graces from God to get you through your trials. She is always lis-tening, as She is the deliverer of all graces. This is the busiest time of the year in our council with many events, dinners and func-tions on our calendar. Please find an event that interest you and give a little time to help your council meet and exceed its goals that have been set. We have our Parish Valentine’s Dinner/Dance coming up followed by our regular fish fry’s every Friday during Lent. Our Basketball Free Throw contest for boys and girls is scheduled for the 7th of February. Our annual Tootsie roll drive is coming up soon. More volunteers is greatly needed for this and can’t be a more worthy and fulfilling call to help someone out that can’t help themselves. One of our biggest fundraisers is just right around the corner, the Golf Tournament. Much help is needed there, both before the tournament; soliciting sponsors such as Hole and High Profile as well as gifts from local restaurants and stores. Anything you brothers can provide is a positive. We also need golfers and volunteers for the day of the tourna-ment. These are just a few things you can participate in. Please check the monthly calendar that is in the newsletter. Remember, in giving you will receive. These are some of the things our council is doing and providing for you and your fami-lies. Our parish also has many events that take place throughout the year that also needs your support. Our parish not only provides us with the Holy Sacrifice of daily and weekly Mass, but also has Bible study classes, Spiritual concerts and Health screenings and check-ups. There are many ministries in our parish that also needs your support that you may ben-efit from. A newer one in our parish is the Family ministry, where you can come, share and grow. Remember at the last meeting I spoke to you about how your council and your parish is an extension of your own personal family. Both are here to help you and fill your needs throughout this life, through the good times and the bad. You have to make the choice to be involved. Maybe by your participation you can make a difference in someone’s life that you had no idea was hurting or in need. Sometimes it may be as simple as taking five minutes and just listening. God is calling us now, He put you here for a purpose. You are special in ways you may not know. Please take to the time and share your family with the rest of us. Your parish needs your participation.

May God Bless you and your Families, Kevin Moore Chancellor

Father Harry’s January Message

Meditation – “Hallowed Be Thy Name:”

Often you have heard me talk about the “Lord’s Prayer”, and that we need to

pray it with the utmost reverence. I believe the following meditation written by

Father Alfred Delp, S.J., a Jesuit priest condemned to death by the Nazi’s in Ber-

lin, 1945, says it all so eloquently.

The images evoked by the Lord's prayer vividly illustrate our life. Humanity

stands or falls by the things that are mentioned in it. If this is realized we can

begin to make progress. If it is not realized, or not taken seriously, we sink and

decline. That is the real key to the grim picture of life today. And this phrase,

hallowed be name, teaches us to pray for the worthy ideal, for the unassaila-

ble, holy, venerated standard. Unless they have something of supreme value,

something at the center of their being which they can venerate, human beings

gradually deteriorate. Human nature is so constituted that it must have some-

thing holy that it can worship, otherwise it becomes cramped and distorted, and

instead of a holy object of veneration something else will take its place ...

The Word of God should evoke and receive the great veneration this phrase sug-

gests, praise, reverence, awe. This effects the realization of those fundamental

categories of life I referred to just now. The name of God is the holy of holies,

the central silence, the thing that above all others calls for humble approach. We

not only ought to believe in the truth at the center of our being, in the purpose of

our existence, but we should also bear testimony to this belief by the proper ful-

fillment of our life's purpose. We should subjugate every-

thing to this law of holiness and reject everything that

does not harmonize with it. God, the great object of hu-

man veneration, will then also be our whole life.”

Pending this meditation I’m most sure you will under-

stand the need to pray the “Our Father” with deep spiritu-

al insight and devotion! God’s blessings be with you.

Fr. Harry D. McAlpine

Knight of the Month .

The Knight of the Month for January 2015 is one of our quiet Knights. He is always around and smiles a lot. He is always willing to lend a hand, but if you didn’t look for him you would-n’t know he was there. At the end of the Spaghetti Dinner on January 7th, he worked with me in the kitchen in order to make it a cleaner place than before we start-

ed cooking! We were there to the very end cleaning a n d f i n a l l y t u r n i n g t h e l i g h t s o u t a s w e l o c k e d t h e d o o r . It is my privilege to award the Knight of the Month award to our Brother Nevile Moo Young.

For the selection of the Family of the Month award for January 2015 I need only mention their names and every Brother can readily name the numerous acts of support to the council as well as the Parish. Both of these people do not sit on the side lines and watch our many Council and Parish events. They roll up their sleeves and jump right in to help whenever and wherever it is needed. Therefore, it is my distinct and personal privilege to announce that Susan and Ron Rizzolo are our Family of the Month.
