SPORTS NEWS – IMPORTANT REMINDERS

READY TO PLAY Just a reminder that when your child has PE/Sport please encourage them to have a water bottle, runners, and appropriate clothing for the day. Dresses and tight clothing are not recommended on days your child has PE as it limits their ability to move about freely and get the most out of their sessions. As per school policy hats must be worn in term 1 and 4 and without a hat your child cannot participate in PE. Sunscreen is strongly advised to apply so if your child cannot use the school provided sunscreen please provide them with their own to go in their bag and label this.

If your child has an injury/illness/or other issue that prevents them from participating in sport for that week please send a note with them to explain this so I am aware.

If your child is in grade 5/6 we are trying to give our students the opportunity to take responsibility for their learning and be more resilient. It is for this reason that if a student has no acceptable reason to sit out of PE and are choosing not to participate, they will be given theoretical work if they cannot do the physical class so they can still learn about the current topic/activity being undertaken.

Below is a copy of the PE timetable:

GYNMASTICS Our Gymnastics is starting next week, Monday 24th - for senior students (grade 3 to 6) and Tuesday 25th February - for junior students (grades foundation to 2). Students will travel by bus to Jets Gymnastics in Hattam Street Golden Square with classes taking place as follows: Mondays: 9.30 to 10.30 - 3/4D & 3/4L, 10.30 to 11.30 - 3/4B & 5/6M, 11.30 to 12.30 - 5/6OT & 5/6G Tuesdays: 12.30 to 1.30 - 1/2M, 1/2 H & 1/2CB, 1.30 to 2.30 - FL & FM

The program will continue on Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd, Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th, Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March. Students are required to wear school uniform. Please no dresses on these days as it makes it difficult for your child to move freely and get the most out of the program. School T-shirt and shorts are highly recommended.

Permission forms and money were due back to the office on the 18th of February, if you have not already done so please return these as soon as possible please. Cost is $45 per students, if you have applied for CSEF please let Pam in the school office know you wish to use the fund to pay for your child’s gym program.

We are looking forward to an exciting program again this year. HOCKEY CLINICS Our Hockey Clinics begin this week in your child's PE time and will continue for the next three weeks. We have been very lucky to receive funding from the sporting schools grants Victoria, which covers the cost of four sessions per class coached by people from Hockey Victoria.
