Playdays ispartofGreenLaneNurseryLtdand isownedandmanagedbyAndrewO’Connor.AndrewisqualifiedtoNVQLevel4inChildcareandhasaBAHonsdegree inRecreationalManagement. Andrewhasalsotrained inmany aspects of running a childcare business, including businessadministration,childprotectionandstaffmanagement.Wetakechildcareveryseriously,andunderstandthetrustyouplacewithuswhen you choose us to look after and care for your children.We have adedicated,friendlyteamofpractitionersallofwhomareCRB/DBScheckedandtrainedinchildcare.The club aims to provide an environment and activity programme thatencourageschildren’splay.Childrenattendingshouldfeelconfidentwithinthe setting to enable them todevelopphysically, emotionally and sociallywhilst having the opportunity to explore, discover and be creative. QualitystatementPlaydays believes in providing the best service it can and has a positiveoutlook to quality.We try to encourage feedback from parents and staffbecausewe recognise that this is thewaywecan improve.Wehavehighexpectationsofthechildrenandstaff,maintainingthequalityweenjoy.OFSTEDandTheHealthandSafetyExecutive(whocollectivelylookateveryaspectofthebusiness)willinspecttheclubregularlyandwithoutnotice.Aspartofthisprocess inspectorswilltalktochildrenandparentsandaskfortheiropinionsontheclub. Wegatherfeedbackbytalkingtochildrenandparents,sendingoutregularquestionnaires.Wealsohaveacommentsboxforparents.HealthyEatingPolicyWe provide a snack for children when they arrive at the club, to keepchildren going until teatime. Our snacks include toast, crumpets, pittabread, dips, fresh fruit and vegetables, and very occasionally biscuits orpartyfoodattheendofterm.SafeguardingChildrenStatementWecreateanenvironmentwherechildrenaresafe,andbuildtrustingandsupportiverelationshipsbetweenfamiliesandstaff.AllstaffandvolunteershavebeenvettedthroughanindepthemploymentprocesswhichPlaydaysis responsible for.This includesanenhanceddisclosurecheck throughtheDisclosureandBaringService,references,interview,observation,inductionandregularappraisals.Allstaffregularlycompletesafeguardingtrainingtokeepthemselvesuptodatewithrelevantissuesandlegislation.Assuchstaffunderstandthatchildabuse can be physical, emotional, sexual, neglect or a mixture of these.Changes in children’s behaviour and appearancewill bemonitored and achildincidentsheetcompletedandfiled.Parents/guardianswill usually be the first point of referencewhere thereare any concerns about the child or there is a safeguarding issue. Theprotectionof thechild isour firstpriorityandwewillpassonappropriateinformation to Social care and Ofsted. If an allegation is made we willautomaticallypassoninformationtoSocialcareandOfsted.

Records of individual childrenwill be kept in a confidential file. All adultsworking and looking after children in our care are able to put oursafeguardingproceduresintopractice.Playdayswillcomplywithandfollowproceduresoutlinedbythelocalsafeguardingchildren’sboardinrelationtochild protection cases. A copy of those procedures aswell as the booklet“Whattodoifyouareworriedachildisbeingabused-summary”iskeptonsiteforstafftoreferto.It isarequirementthataparent/legalguardiangiveswrittenpermission ifanyoneother than either parent/legal guardian is going to collect a child.Wewillonlyreleaseachildtoanamedperson.BehaviourManagementPolicyWebelievethatchildrenandadultsflourishbestinanorderedenvironmentinwhich everybody knowswhat is expectedof themand ask the parentssupportusinthis.Childrenarethenfreetodeveloptheirplayandlearningwith the feeling that theyare secureandsafe.
