The Specialty plate market in Texas

• Since 1965, over 40yrs of history• Over 100 different plates on offer • Texas has less than 1% market penetration• One of the lowest in the nation• Specialty plate category has been in decline• Low levels of general awareness and interest• Lack of any real understanding of the category• 99% of Texans don’t have a Specialty plate

We’ve been here before

• Queensland (Australia)– 15+ years of trading history before PPQ– Low market penetration rates– Low interest in the current range in plates– Program was in decline

We’ve been here before

• Since PPQ in 1998– Double digit growth – Delivering overall category growth– Now 9-10% market penetration– Existing “theme” plates within the program

increased on average 10% during PPQ’s first year.
