These waters provide a wonderful venue for sailing events which is further enhanced by the supporting infrastructure of boatyards, marinas, sailmakers, chandlers and other marine- related companies, as well as a proliferation of hotels, guest houses, restaurants, shops and other visitor attractions. Surrounding these waters are the six Sailing and Yacht Clubs which make up the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association (PoFSA). Collectively these clubs organise a great many races each year, far more than can be mentioned in this calendar. We hope we have included the main events, however, while the details of the clubs’ various points series can be viewed on their websites. Every year these six clubs come together, under the banner of PoFSA, to organise Falmouth Sailing Week which has its origins soon after the Second World War when the clubs first got together to jointly organise regattas on consecutive days. Seven days of racing for a couple of dozen classes with a prizegiving and teas at a different venue each day provides a format which may well be unique. Another of the great traditions of racing in the Falmouth area is the village regattas, some of which were first held in the early part of the 19th century and so pre date the formation of any of the clubs. POFSA is pleased to be able to support these regattas while at the same time leaving each of them to be run according to its own traditions. All of them provide a great spectacle, particularly with the magnificent local sailing boat classes taking part. Nigel Sharp - PoFSA Chairman Gaye Slater – PoFSA Secretary With countless sporting events and other public gatherings rightly being cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus, we have been considering the situation with regard to Falmouth Sailing Week which is due to take place from the 8th to 15th of August. Those of us who have the opportunity to sail in the magnificent waters of the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay are all too aware how tremendously lucky we are. These waters provide a wonderful venue for sailing events which is further enhanced by the supporting infrastructure of boatyards, marinas, sailmakers, chandlers and other marine-related companies, as well as a proliferation of hotels, guest houses, restaurants, shops and other visitor attractions.

Nigel Sharp - PoFSA ChairmanGaye Slater – PoFSA Secretary

With countless sporting events and other public gatherings rightly being cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus, we have been considering the situation with regard to Falmouth Sailing Week which is due to take place from the 8th to 15th of August. It is, of course, impossible to know what the situation will be by then, but for the foreseeable future we are determined to remain positive and to proceed with our usual plans to run the event.
