Why the Swedish Agency work with bioenergy

Forests play an important roll in climate discussions

International agreements- climate policies

We want to minimize green house effects – we have also a climate

policy – Hillevi Eriksson

Page 17: Overview of Bio Energy Use in Sweden

supply of bio energi in our forests

Small trees- today 1 TWh- max 10-15 TWh- tot 140 TWh

Stumps – today 0TWH – max 10-12 TWH – tot 40 TWh

Cutting rests – today11 TWh – max 20-25 TWh- tot 40 TWh

1 TWh = 1 000 000 000 000 W

Page 18: Overview of Bio Energy Use in Sweden

Bioenergy is an economic alternative

Using stupms we will soon get 1,2-2,6 TWh

120-240 000 kubic oil = 1,2 – 2,6 TWh

Price for one kubic oil=?

Wood energy Cleantech

Increase knowledge and interest among forest owners and other target groups about bioenergy and sustainable development around Baltic Sea region.

Aim of the project

Page 21: Overview of Bio Energy Use in Sweden

Wood energy Cleantech

1. Extension meetings for forest owners to increase their interest for bioenergy

2. Organization and participation in bioenergy meetings with bioenergy contractors, environmentalists and other experts.

3. Collect and change bio energy information with experts

4. Organize a study tour in Sweden for target groups and take part in respective study tours in Estonia and Latvia.

Activities

Page 22: Overview of Bio Energy Use in Sweden

Wood energy Cleantech

1. Project web page within Swedish Forest Agency

2. Extension material for forest owners, guidelines,

strategies for forest management

3. Information brochure about wood sector in our project regions

4. Exhibition about wood sector in our project regions

Climate / environment/ recycling

We will take part in climate meetings/ conferences about climate changes / forestry

Analyses of the demand of wood, as well as climate and environmental aspects on forestry supply chain, analyze need for further education for target groups
