The Challenge: 1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water 2.4 billion do not have basic sanitation facilities 1.6 billion live without electricity 1.5 billion people do not have adequate shelter In a quarter of the world, over 90% of thepopulation do not have a telephone.
1.2 billion people live on less than $1 a day In developing countries 820 million people areunder nourished 9.7 million children under the age of five dieevery year.
