In order to provide additional flexibility for DL1608 and DL806 users, Mackie has released Master Fader Classic. Master Fader Classic is a separate app available on the App store that is based on the simpler feature set of Master Fader v2.1.
Having the option to keep your system on the version of Master Fader originally installed gives you the flexibility to control when and how to best upgrade. It also means that if Master Fader v2.1 does the job, you can continue to use it as long as you like.
Master Fader Classic can be installed on the same iPad alongside the latest version of Master Fader v3.0. It’s important to remember that the mixer firmware must match the version of Master Fader you wish to mix with.
If your DL1608/DL806 is loaded with the firmware for Master Fader v2.1, Master Fader Classic will connect and work right away. However, if you have already upgraded you mixer firmware with Master Fader v3.0, you will need to downgrade the firmware in your mixer using the instructions in this document.
Note: Backups made in Master Fader v3.0 cannot be used in Master Fader Classic. Also, Master Fader Classic is for DL1608/DL806 only. Master Fader v3.0 is required for the DL32R. If your system is using Master Fader Classic, you will need to use My Fader v2.1 for compatibility.
Before performing this procedure, you may want back up your mixer by saving your current snapshot and show and performing a full system backup as described in the user guide. This is helpful if you decide to revert to or re-install Master Fader 3.0 or higher.

Locate The Button
On the DL1608 and DL806, the recessed button is located at the rear of the mixer as shown below.
Boot Into Update Mode
With the DL mixer powered off, hold down the recessed button and turn on the mixer. Continue to hold down the button for at least 4 seconds.

Connect To Mixer
Open Master Fader Classic on your iPad.You can either dock your iPad or connect via WiFi.
Install Firmware
After selecting the mixer, a Device Firmware Update window will appear as show below. Choose Yes, Update.

The final step will say “Firmware update completed - rebooting. This may take a while”.Please wait till this window goes away and the the iPad synchronizes to the mixer.
Install Firmware continued
A “Firmware Update In Progress” window will appear. It will go through several steps before finishing. Do not power off or disconnect the iPad during this install. This process can take up to 15 minutes.

Finish
After the iPad is sychronized with the mixer, the firmware installation is complete. You can now use your mixer.
