All items of this list of references are relevant to the work of Makivik Corporation in the development of its strategy and action plan on low-income and Inuit homelessness in Montreal, to its implementation, and to other relevant matters and issues.

Makivik (makivik.org) is the organization that represents the 12,000 Inuit of Nunavik (Northern Quebec) including the Inuit who live outside the territory, mainly in Montreal.

The list of references includes Reports/Scientific Reports (130 items), Notes/Speeches (15 items), Power Points/Videos/DVD (16 items), Press Clippings and Media (249 items). We believe by making available this detailed list of references, it could be of help to Nunavik Inuit organizations, to Inuit living in other Canadian cities, to northern governments, namely the Government of Nunavut and the Government of the Northwest Territories, to provincial governments, to organizations involved in Inuit homelessness, and to researchers. Since 2008, Makivik Corporation has been very much involved regarding low-income and homeless Inuit in Montreal, and has developed a strategy and action plan with the objectives to ensure Inuit in need, in vulnerable situation or homeless get access to medical services and to social programs, and to work on prevention of homelessness. Over the last 8 years, Makivik has worked diligently to convince the Government of Canada, the Government of Québec and the City of Montreal of the need to develop Inuit-specific measures in their policies and programs regarding homelessness, taking into account Inuit culture, values, language, identity and priorities. To implement its strategy, Makivik decided to develop efficient partnerships with organizations that have knowledge and experience on these issues, and that are sensitive to Inuit culture and needs. Research has been at the base of Makivik Action Plan, in order to get proper information on the needs of these Inuit, and to develop and implement relevant measures and programs.
