This week we have had our year 3 and 5 students undertake NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy). Well done to every student who participated in this and we look forward to celebrating our successes next term. Last week our Year 1 students spent the day at the Australian Reptile Park as part of their educational program. It was so lovely to read many of their re- counts and hear their great stories. Student Led Conferences Once again this year, on the last Wednesday of the term (24/6) from 3 – 6 pm, we will be conducting student led conferences in place of parent/teacher interviews. Teachers will schedule a brief time for each family to talk about details but the 20-minute time slot is aimed at your child showing what they are doing in class, how they can improve, and setting some goals for the rest of the year in consulta-tion with their parents. Further details will be provided via newslet-

ters, notes and our web page and mobile app.

Opportunity Class Applications for 2016 Parents of current Year 4 students who wish to apply for placement in an opportunity class for Year 5 in 2016 are invited to apply online at

www.schools.nsw.edu.au/ocplacement by Friday 15 May. Late applications will not be accepted. Goodbye—Au Revoir My time at Berkeley Vale Public School has been a most rewarding and wonderful experience. Berkeley Vale Public School is an exceptional school and it has been a privilege to have been part of the Berkeley Vale Public School family (community) and to have worked with talented, dedicated and caring staff and teachers, supportive parents and delightful children. I look forward to hearing that Berkeley Vale Public School continues to grow and move from strength to strength. Berkeley Vale Public School will always have a special place close to my heart.

Sandra de Gruchy Kinders Wanted for 2016! We are now taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2016. To be eligible to enrol in Kinder, children must turn 5 years of age by 31 July 2016. Please collect your enrolment form from the School Office and return as soon as possible. The school will also need to sight proof of birth and immunisation details.

KNX Transition Program The KNX transition program is a 10 week school readiness program. Children attend for a 2.5 hour session on the same day each week during the program. By attending KNX, the children have the chance to become familiar with our school and teachers. They will learn rules, routines and procedures which all help to make the transition process smoother. The program will be starting on Monday 7 September 2015. We look forward to meeting our future students. Please contact the school office on 4388 1796 to get an application form

Learning for Life Scholarship Program The Smith Family may be able to help with the costs of your child’s education. A small number of Learning for Life scholarships are currently availa-ble to students attending Berkeley Vale Public School. The scholar-ships provide $384 per year to help families afford essential educa-tional items such as uniforms, school shoes, excursions and books/stationery items. To be eligible, parents/carers must hold a current Centrelink Pension Concession card or Health Care card and students need to have a very good record of school attendance. If you think you may qualify and would like more information about referral to the program, please contact Sharon Hoult at the school on 4388 1796 no later than Wednesday 20 May. Please note that an expression of interest does not guarantee the provision of a scholarship and the number of scholarships available is limited.

The boys made it through after overcoming Chittaway in their rain affected round 2 match at Kurraba Oval. Matt Smale was the Man of the Match after taking a few key wickets. Good luck to the boys. Finally, well done to all the boys and girls who narrowly missed out on making Representative teams. Their skills will be invaluable for our school teams in the PSSA State Knockouts.
