• The FTS “KALOSTOUS” operates on demand and offers “door-

to-door” service

• Users have to make a booking at least one day before the day of

their trip and confirm the booking after the finalisation of the route

to be followed

• Similar trip requests in terms of route and time will be combined

together

• A travel dispatch centre will operate at the existing facilities of the

telephone call centre of the Union of Taxis

• The service is to be provided by one type of vehicles, taxis, such

as the common private cars.

• The TDC operates from 07:20 till 20:00. Bookings can be made

until that time

• The service is to be offered to the general public.

• Target groups that are expected to benefit more from it are:

– residents of under populated adjacent areas or areas where

conventional bus access is not secured (e.g. due to narrow streets)

– elderly people,

– students,

– people with mobility impairments and

– tourists.

• Taxi vehicles will be assigned suitably by TDC to serve users

according to the number of travellers in the each route

• The cost of the service will range among the cost of the

conventional urban bus service and the estimated minimum

cost of taxi service for each route

• Reservations will be possible via telephone calls

• The communication between TDC and drivers will be realised

using mobile phones or the private radio communication

network

• Special software or equipment will not be exploited at this first

pilot stage. A future acquisition of such software will be

investigated taking into account the recorded needs of the

service

• Trip bookings will be managed using a common commercial

software for data management

• The service area covers the greatest and most important part

of the Municipality of Kastoria

• Tickets/ receipts will be given to users on vehicle

• There is a fixed fare for each route which depends on the departure zone and the destination zone of the trip
