R.E.R.C. – Pentecost Dove Flame The symbols of Pentecost are the dove, a flame and the colour red. Can you see

how this design can symbolise both the dove and flame? Copy this design onto a

piece of paper or card and decorate it: you might like to include the colour red.

Topic - Country Study – Personal Research

P6 COUNTRY STUDY – PERSONAL RESEARCH

You have been learning lots of new mapping skills over the past few weeks. We

now would like you to show some of these learned skills in your own choice of

personal research.

• We would like you to choose a country – any country!

• Do some research. Find out lots of information – especially geographical facts

• Decide on your preferred way to share this knowledge with us – written report,

PowerPoint, poster, animation etc.

• Produce a finished product – including all your information

• Share it!

Although you have free reign as to how you present your information in this

activity, we do have certain expectations that we want to see in everyone’s work.

Please make sure you include the following information –

1. All relevant, important geographical information, including -

- Capital cities and other cities

- Important geographical features – mountains, rivers, seas etc.

- How the country is subdivided – Australia has ‘states’, Italy has ‘regions’

- A little bit of information about these areas

- Which continent is it on? What are its neighbouring countries? Is it part of a

group of nations e.g. Scandinavia, the Caribbean, Micronesia etc.?

- At least one clearly annotated map created by you – not printed from the

internet

2. For the rest of your project, you can choose from these sub-headings. You

do not need to include all of these -

- Climate

- Important Places

- Flag

- Language(s)

- Religion

- Population

- Famous Landmarks

- Food

- Daily Life / School Life / Leisure Time

- Natural Resources

- Industry

- History

- Other Interesting Facts

So that means – provide all the information for Section 1. and only what you want

from Section 2.

You will have two weeks to complete this task. We would love to see what you’ve

created the week starting Monday 8th June.
