We are all looking forward to the 2014/15 school year. It is our goal that each child will feel successful and feel that he/she plays an important role in our school community of learners. We foster healthy relationships so students feel a positive connection to their school, and this in turn allows them to learn and reach their full potential. For the first week of school, students will be working in their grade groups. This provides an opportunity for students to work with different teachers and peers. These interactions will help teachers determine class placements and go over class routines. Teachers are thoughtful and deliberate in determining the most suitable placement for your child based on the following criteria: Student intellectual, social and emotional development Learning styles and strengths of students Degree of independence Social compatibility Gender balance Maintaining appropriate teacher-student ratios I am excited to be principal of Pacific Heights Elementary School. Please remember my door is open to our parents and community members. Working together with open and honest communication is required to meet the needs of our learners and to build a positive school environment. I look forward to the opportunity to hear from you. Please feel welcome to come and say hello and introduce yourselves. I also ask you take a moment to follow us on Twitter: @PacHeights36 where we will share the happenings around the school. I wish all our students and families a successful 2014/15 school year! Sincerely, Ms. S. Important Dates- Please check our website for updates I understand many of you have questions around school events that were on our calendar such as: Meet the Teacher Night, Terry Fox Run, and Harvest Day. Our main priority is centered around student learning. This week we are taking time determining classroom placements and helping students settle into school routines. We will make decisions regarding the above scheduled events in the upcoming weeks and send home a newsletter with any changes.

School Supplies School Supply Lists are posted on our website. Students will only need limited supplies for the first week of school. Teachers will inform students of what they need to bring. For those who have ordered supplies through Creative Pac they will be distributed to students once classes are set.

School Visitors All visitors to the school must report and sign in at the office to receive a visitor’s badge. This helps to ensure student safety. If you are bringing your child’s lunch, please label it clearly with your child’s name and leave it by the office. Please do not bring lunches directly to classrooms as it disturbs student learning.

School Agendas We are happy to be sending an agenda home with your child. The agenda contains important information for parents and students. Please send $5.00 for each agenda with your child this week.
