The entity to recei ve fund ing for th is project is Creighton Uni versity . Creighton University is

located at 2500 Cal iforn ia P laza, Omaha, NE 68178. Cre ighton University requests $ 1.2 m illion in

fund ing to support costs assoc iated with expansion of its energy technology training program and the

estab lishment of the Research Center for So lar Energy that are consistent with the m iss ion of the

Departm ent of Energy - "to strengthen America's ene rgy security, envi ronmental qua li ty, and economic

vital ity in pub lic-private partnerships that I) enhance energy efficiency and productiv ity, 2) bring clean,

reliab le and affordable energy techno log ies to th e marketplace, and 3) make a di fference in the everyday

lives of Amer icans by enhanc ing their e nergy choices and their quality of life. "

This new program wou ld take advantage ofCreighton 's develop ing leadership in EnergyTechnology. The new Energy Techno logy Program w ill create two facul ty research labs that wi ll be

designed as settings for project-based and internship-based research settings. Federal funding wou ld

a llow the univers ity to offer specialized technical training programs in photovoltaics and wind energy to

create highly skilled manpower to provide the expertise to develop and implement so lar energy . These

programs wou ld serve the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students as we ll as add ressing

tra ining and retraining needs for a growing energy sector of the economy.
