CALENDAR TERM 2 PRINCIPAL’S NEWS Phase 1 begins this week with
students returning to school for
one day a week. This will be an
exciting and busy week with
many staff and students back
onsite at school. It will be
challenging as we adapt again to
new procedures of teaching and
learning as well as everyday life
here at school whilst continuing to support our students learning
from home. There will be continued enhanced cleaning and hygiene
supply arrangements for our school.
A big thank you to the families who followed our drop off guidelines
this morning, your cooperation is much appreciated. We know how
hard it is, especially for Kindergarten students.
Children who need to be at school on a day other than their
scheduled day due to essential work or family circumstances will
also be welcome and onsite. Parents are encouraged to keep their
child at home for the rest of the week wherever possible. If your
child attends school on a day/days other than their allocated ‘onsite
learning day’ they will complete their work with the supervision of a
teacher in a classroom or the hall. If you choose not to send your
child to school on their scheduled day, please send an email to me
via the Pagewood email address to explain why and a staff member
will be in contact with you.
As a school we are well organised and used to the smooth running
of teaching and learning programs. Teachers will need to take the
time to ensure students are in the right place each day they are at
school, know what is expected of them in a different environment
and that we all look after ourselves, taking the time to be ready
each morning, giving students time to wash their hands thoroughly.
Most importantly teachers will be making the time to reconnect
with students, or in Mr Ioannidis and Mr Johnstone’s case, get to
know their students. Most students will be very excited to be back
at school. Student wellbeing, connection to school, their friends,
their teachers and their learning is what is most important right
now.

It was wonderful to see the students in their classrooms this morning and happily playing at recess and lunch. The new
play equipment area is open with surfaces being cleaned before and after recess each day. The new toilet build is
coming along well. Concrete was poured on Saturday so there will be no work for the next three weeks to allow it to
settle.
I am currently working on finalising our 2019 Annual Report that will be available on our school website shortly. Have
a wonderful week everyone and I look forward to seeing more students at school during the week.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount and we will be following advice of the experts in this
field. Hygiene and safety will be a priority and there continues to be enhanced cleaning in the school. We are
continuing with our daily thorough cleaning, including the cleaning of high touch surfaces such as door knobs, desks,
bathrooms and sinks. Bubblers will not be accessed by students due to hygiene concerns.

CANTEEN Please note the canteen will NOT be open in Week 3 or 4. This will be reassessed for Week 5.
WINTER UNIFORM/UNIFORM SHOP
Students should return to school in winter uniform this term. If you have not yet purchased uniforms please see the
note below. Until you are able to get winter uniforms please send your child to school in their summer uniform with
a school jacket.
The uniform shop will be closed temporarily for “face-to face” sales, however orders will still be filled on a regular
basis to ensure you can still purchase the items you require. Please leave your order form at the office or email the
order form directly to [email protected]. Please ensure an order form is used for all purchases. Credit card
payments are preferred but cash is accepted also. Note that credit card details will be destroyed from the order form
after purchase. Your uniform order will be delivered to your child’s classroom or left at the office, as instructed by
you on the order form.
Exchanges (in original packaging without tags removed) can be left at the office with clear exchange instructions.
If you require fitting of uniforms or would like to access the second hand items, please email
[email protected] and we will organise a suitable time. Please clearly label each item to minimise loss
SPECIAL ORDER “Warburton” Polar Fleece Lined Hard Shell Spray Jacket (with school logo)
The uniform shop will be placing an one-off order for the “spray jacket”. As this is not a regular item, we do not have current stock of this product, and as such we are unable to provide a sample.
PLEASE SEE ORDER FORM AT END OF THIS NEWSLETTER – IF YOU WISH TO PLACE AN ORDER, PLEASE RETURN THIS FORM TO THE OFFICE OR EMAIL IT TO THE UNIFORM SHOP AT [email protected] BY FRIDAY 22nd MAY 2020.
ORDERS WILL BE PLACED THE FOLLOWING WEEK IF MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENTS ARE MET AS REQUESTED BY THE SUPPLIER.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS FOR 2021
Pagewood Public School’s Kindergarten 2021 Open Day will now be held on Thursday 20 August 2020. Individual
interviews are planned for 1-17 September. Kindergarten Transition sessions will be held on Wednesday 4 and 11
November. We will start taking Kindergarten 2021 enrolment forms and all supporting documentation via email
