As part of our service, in keeping with the outstanding quality of imagery, photographs ordered from the GettyImages Gallery are printed by our owndarkroom craftspeople to the most exacting standards.

Each photograph is hand-printed, from theoriginal negatives, onto one of three types of specialist photographic paper:

Fibre paper: Silver gelatin, exhibition-quality, archival, hand-printed and hand-processed. These types of print also formpart of a limited edition run. Fibre offers theultimate in quality both in tonal range andlongevity. Our darkroom craftspeople usetheir expertise to choose the emulsion thatwill best complement the negative to beprinted. This flexibility ensures that the finalprint will always have the best possibledepth and contrast.

Resin paper: Modern photographic paperwhich is hand-printed and part-machineprocessed. Resin prints have a plasticemulsion coating so do not offer the sameflexibility as fibre prints. Resin paper is stillconsidered to be one of the best in themarket and is used as a more cost-effectiveoption for larger projects.

Lambda paper: This process offers acontinuous tone and delivers vibrant and clear colours. Printed on a traditionalphotographic paper and printed from a digitally retouched, drum-scannednegative or transparency. The Lambdaprocess offers greater flexibility as themethod of digitally retouching imagesallows us to deliver superb print qualityfrom images that otherwise may not havebeen printable.

Fibre, resin and Lambda printing are offered as part of our standard service, but we are more than happy to provide a bespoke solution if you have a specific requirement.

Our darkroom team, whose experience in digital and analogue reproduction is second to none, are always on hand to offer technical and objective guidance.
