From the Organizers,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show – the largest and most important show of its kind in the United States. This year proudly marks our twelfth year at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. As organizers, each year we strive for excellence, traveling to the finest art and antiques shows worldwide, in addition to frequenting the most important shows in our nation. As a result, it is our pleasure to present an international array of unique and highly esteemed exhibitors in each category, brought together for one spectacular event. A show of this magnitude presents challenges from inception and requires a coordinated effort from a myriad of people. We would like to show our gratitude by congratulating everyone involved in making the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show a success. It is truly a team effort that requires seamless production from our hardworking office staff to our technical and creative personnel that bring this event to life. This year, we are proud to honor the American Red Cross, as the Official Charity Partner of the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show. We are thankful for their contributions to the community, and we are delighted to welcome their supporters that have joined us to help raise funds for such a great organization. Most importantly, we would like to give a special thanks to our exhibitors from around the world who travel here so that we may enjoy spectacular works of art, rare antiques and timeless treasures. To each participant, we offer our deep appreciation and gratitude. This year we would like to welcome the galleries joining us for the first time, including Clinton Howell Antiques, Galerie Dumonteil, Galerie Jacques Bailly, and Richard Green Gallery. To our visitors, we extend our warmest welcome, and invite you to take advantage of this cultural experience and the opportunity to meet many of the worlds most renowned and respected jewelry, fine art and antique dealers who are eager to share their knowledge and treasures with you. February 13, 2014 Dear Friends:
As Governor of the Sunshine State, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Palm
Beach Jewelry, Art and Antique Show. The people of Florida look forward to showcasing the hospitality that makes the Sunshine State the world’s travel destination of choice.
As you enjoy the show and Florida’s beautiful beaches and friendly businesses, I
invite you to also learn more about what we are doing to make Florida the best place for businesses to succeed. As a lifelong entrepreneur, I understand what it takes to grow a business. The positive growth we are seeing in Florida’s private-sector job creation continues to tell our state’s great turnaround story. Our business-friendly policies are working, and more and more Floridians are able to get a job and support their families.
A thriving tourism industry is vital to growing jobs, and it is our goal to have 100
million visitors travel to the Sunshine State this year. Florida continues to experience record numbers of visitors, which is great news for Florida families. We are working to create an opportunity economy that supports jobs for generations to come so our grandchildren can pursue their dreams right here in Florida.
Thank you for hosting visitors from around the world and helping make Florida
the greatest place to live, work, and raise a family.
Sincerely,
Rick Scott Governor

Dear Guests of the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art and Antique Show,
Welcome!
We are so pleased to have been invited by Scott Diament and the Palm Beach Show Group team to participate as the charity partner of the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art and Antique Show.
The American Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network with 13 million volunteers in 187 countries. Working together, we help respond to disasters, build safer communities, and educate future humanitarians.
Across our South Florida Region, we respond every 20 hours, on average, to one of our neighbors in need, meeting their immediate physical and mental health needs. We also work year-round to make sure we are prepared for any event that comes our way, and have the ability to shelter some 100,000 people when a major hurricane looms off our shores.
We also empower friends and neighbors to save lives through a variety of training courses including first aid, childcare, and lifesaving CPR. Volunteers stand ready to assist military families who need to connect with loved ones overseas or a soldier who requires medical care to transition back to active duty.
On March 4 we will continue our local celebration of design and beauty with the 39th American Red Cross Designers’ Show House. We hope you will call for more information and join us to view this spectacular 1925 Mizner-Style home with a rich history.

Conveyed in sharp profile, this portrait of Jacqueline is intriguing as she looks thoughtfully at her current composition. Picasso carefully depicts the figure’s large inky black eyes, long black hair and delicate shoulders.
The cane chair and raw canvas lend a sense of domestic comfort to the image, drawn from the artist’s everyday experience.

New NY rules could protectauthenticators
■ Suggested changes aim to discourage lawsuits against views expressed in good faith

Issue 2141 | 17th May 2014 UK £2.25 – USA $6.50 – Europe €3.95
DESIGNED and manufactured by the Siemens factory in Woolwich from 1929, the 200 Series dial telephone (aka the Neophone) is today considered an Art Deco design classic and the first truly modern telephone.
Standard issue black versions, rented en masse to customers by the General Post Office, will now command two- and three-figure sums depending upon type and condition. But those encased in ivory-coloured plastic (typically urea formaldehyde for early models and acrylic for later ones) are harder to find in good order while the small number in ‘jade green’ and ‘lacquer red’ are a different commercial proposition entirely.
Handsets in these two special colours attracted a substantially increased subscription cost at the time, enough to make them something of a novelty, even before most phones of this type were discarded or replaced as obsolete in the 1960s.
The pair of red and green 1950s-era Neophones seen at Richard Winterton of Lichfield on May 2 were both in very good condition and sold with matching bell sets (the separate pedestal unit to make them ring), a combination collectors know as ‘king pyramids’. These models also included the small exchange drawer in the
Art Deco classics ring a bell
LEGISLATION designed to protect art authenticators from lengthy and expensive legal claims has been proposed in New York.
The bill, which seeks to amend the state’s art and cultural affairs law, is designed to discourage lawsuits against those who authenticate works of art in good faith and enable them to recover their expenses in the event of an unsuccessful claim.
According to The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, who have recommended the proposed legislation,
the changes would “address certain deficiencies” in the current framework and would protect “authenticators in rendering independent, good-faith opinions about the authenticity, attribution and authorship of works of fine art”.
Earlier this month the bill was unanimously endorsed by The New York Senate Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs and it will now move forward for consideration by the full senate.
The legislation comes at a time when the role of authenticators and authenticating bodies has been brought into focus following the demise of several artists’ authenticating boards over the last few years.
These include, most prominently, the Andy Warhol Foundation in 2011, as well as the Keith Haring Foundation and Jean-Michel Basquiat authentication committee, both in 2012.
