Diocese of Winona - Child Sexual Abuse Policy Information The Diocese of Winona will provide a prompt, appropriate and compassionate response to reporters of sexual abuse of a child by any diocesan agent (employees, volunteers, ven-dors, religious or clergy). Anyone wishing to make a report of an allegation of sexual abuse should call the Victim As-sistance Coordinator at (507) 454-2270, Extension 255. A caller will be asked to provide his or her name and tele-phone number. Individuals are also encouraged to take their reports directly to civil authorities. The Diocese of Winona is committed to protecting children, young people and other vulnerable people in our schools, parishes and ministries. The diocesan policy is available on the diocesan web site at www.dow.org under the Safe Environment Program. If you have any questions about the Diocese of Winona's implementation of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, please contact Peter Martin by calling (507) 858-1264 or email [email protected].

This weekend we come to celebrate what we call the Paschal Mystery, that is, the passion, death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus. The Church invites us to make our own paths that Jesus underwent, so that we may take part of the Resurrection of Christ with more and abun-dant gladness. According to the plan of the most Holy Trinity it was necessary that Jesus Christ suffers to save all men: As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life (Jn 3:14-15). Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into His glory (Lk 24:26)? And He began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer... and be put to death, and after three days rise again (Mk 8:31). If in the actual salvific economy Christ’s Passion was neces-sary, then it will also be necessary for us to suffer. If there were another way to Heaven, Jesus Christ would have fol-lowed it, and moreover, He would have taught it. However, He did not. Christ went by means of the royal road of the Holy Cross and He taught us to go by it: “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Lk 9:23 let us enter into this Holy Week with our heart willing to share the sufferings the Lord will endure for us. Chrism Mass: Try to attend the Chrism Mass tomorrow Monday March 21at 7:00 pm in Good Shepherd Parish, Jackson, MN. The Chrism Mass is one of the most beautiful ceremonies in the Diocese, at that Mass, Bishop Quinn, will bless the oils which will be used in all the Diocese: the oil for the Catechumens, oil for the sick and will conse-crate the Holy Chrism for baptism, confirmation priestly ordinations and also for consecration of churches and altars. At this Mass also we expect all the priests of the diocese who will renew their priestly commitments to follow Christ the Good Shepherd. Station of the Cross: On Good Friday after the Morning Prayer at 9:00 am I invite you to join me in praying the Station of the Cross by the streets of town. We will leave SSPP for St John the Baptist, then Saint Joseph the Worker and we will finish at Holy Rosary Parish. Consider this devotion as a penitential exercise during the Holy Week. Fasting and Abstinence: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catho-lics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. Holy Thursday Adoration: Could you not watch one hour with me? These are the words Jesus addresses to his dis-ciples the day before He died. During the Easter Triduum we recall our Lord going to Gethsemane and praying for us all. He invited His intimate to watch with Him. So during the Holy Thursday celebration there is also a moment when the priest’s reserve Our Lord in a special monument, here in our church will be in front of the shrine of the Divine Mercy, at that moment we are invited by the Lord to be with Him for an hour or so. You may consider spending some time praying with our Lord. The Blessed Sacrament will be there from 8:00 pm until 12:00 midnight. Also there will be confessions from 10 pm to 11 pm. Have a Blessed Holy Week!

No Session - Holy Week

Hungering to Build a Community We follow Jesus this week on our Lenten journey as he enters Jerusalem, a community he knew well. CRS Rice Bowl asks us to prayerfully enter into our own communi-ties, to find those who are hungry and thirsty, those who need our help. How does our Lenten journey motivate us to serve those we encounter in our daily lives? Visit crs-ricebowl.org for more information. Rice Bowls may be turned in to one of the Ushers or the Parish Office.

Reflecting with Scripture Isaiah 50:4–9a; Philippians 2:5–11; Luke 22:14–23:56 or Luke 23:1–49

Global Solidarity Jesus tells us to love our neighbors, even though they may be different from us. That means those neighbors who live next door and those who live on the other side of the planet. Jesus reminds us that we are all part

of God’s great family.

∗ Isaiah reminds us that God gives us a “well-trained tongue … to answer the weary a word that will waken them.” Do we listen to God’s Spirit within us? How does the Spirit motivate us and guide our words as we work for a more just world?

∗ Jesus “emptied himself, taking the form of a slave.” How are we called, especially in these last days of Lent, to empty ourselves for the good of others?

∗ This week, CRS Rice Bowl reminds us of the needs faced by communities in our own country.

∗ How have our Lenten reflections on global solidar-ity affected how we view those in need in our own communities?

No me siento avergonzado (Isaías 50:4-7). Salmo — Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abando-nado? (Salmo 22 [21]). Segunda lectura — Jesús se despojó totalmente y Dios lo llenó de exaltación (Filipenses 2:6-11). Evangelio — El recuento de la pasión de Cristo según san Lucas (Lucas 22:14 — 23:56 [23:1-49]).
