Paramount® Filtered EnclosuresFeatures & Benefits

Paramount Filtered Enclosures are self-contained work stationsthat use carbon filters to rid the laboratory of annoying or unsafeconcentrations of organic solvents, formaldehyde, acid gases orammonia. Unlike traditional fume hoods, they require no ductingand can be moved from lab to lab.

Paramount Duet Filtered Enclosures use both carbon-basedand 99.99% efficient HEPA filters for removing gaseous and partic-ulate contaminants. These enclosures are suited to clean roomand other applications that use chemicals that generate fumes,

vapors and/or particulates yet require ISO Class 5 (formerly Class100) conditions.

Color-Smart Filter Cells used in the Paramount are sold separatelyand come in five types: Ammonia, Acid Gas, Organic, Formaldehydeand HEPA. Fluorescent lights illuminatethe interior and are replaceablefrom the front.

Audible/visual alarm remindsthe user to check the filtersusing sampling tubes or toreplace the filters. The alarm canbe programmed to alert afterthe blower has run for a presetperiod of time. On models withorganic vapor sensors, thesame alarm activates when highconcentrations of organic vaporsare detected by the sensors.

Protector VS Ventilation Stations are enclosures that provide aneconomical alternative to heavy duty fume hoods. With their lowprofile and clear sides, top and sash, VS Stations are well suitedfor classroom and educational laboratory environments wheresupervision or demonstrations are required. They can also beused as weighing stations, light duty fume hoods, solvent cleaningwork bays, and veterinary pathology and cytology enclosures.Smaller than most fume hoods, VS Stations, in 2', 3' and 4'widths, exhaust less tempered room air than traditional hoods to

conserve energy. They have no switches, wiring or servicefixtures that can add significant costs. Illumination is provided byroom light.

Protector VS Stations may be connected to a remote blowerand exhausted to the outside. When connected to the VS Station,Protector FilterMate Mobile Stations provide an alternative to out-side ducting. Color-Smart Ammonia Carbon-Based Filter Cells 6910200.

Color-Smart Filter Cells are engineered tothe National Institute for OccupationalSafety and Health (NIOSH) guidelines forrespirators. Filters are color coded in thesame way as respirator cartridge types forat-a-glance recognition. Four carbon-based Filter Cell types and two HEPA FilterCell types are available:

• Organic Filter Cells, Type AC, are colorcoded black and are suitable for vaporsfrom organic solvents including acetone,ethyl acetate, toluene and xylene.

• Acid Gas Filter Cells, Type ST-1, arecolor coded white and are suitable forfumes from acids including hydrochloric,nitric and sulfuric.

• Formaldehyde Filter Cells, Type CI, arecolor coded drab green and are suitablefor vapors from formaldehyde.

• Ammonia Filter Cells, Type CX, arecolor coded bright green and are suit-able for ammonia and low molecularweight amines.

• HEPA Filter Cells, 99.99% efficient, arecolor coded purple and are suitable forremoving particulates such as powdersand pollen. They should not be usedto capture biohazardous materialsor volatile organic material.

• Sealed HEPA Filter Cells, 99.99%efficient, available only for use withProtector FilterMate Mobile Stations,are color coded purple and are suitablefor removing hazardous particulates

such as drugs and dry chemicals.They include a bag out system for safedisposal of contaminated cells. Theyshould not be used to capturebiohazardous materials or volatileorganic material.
