TheBrawleyElementarySchoolDistrictASESprogramwelcomesyouandyourchild/childrentoan exciting year of after school activities. ASES is an educational after school hours serviceoperating until 6:00 p.m. daily, with the exception of three professional development daysthroughout the year. ASES services are available to elementary and middle school studentsenrolledinBrawleyElementarySchoolDistrict.

Wearepleasedtohaveyourchild/childrenintheASESprogram.ThegoaloftheASESprogramstaff is toprovideasafeandnurturing learningenvironment forthosestudentsneedingcareafter the regular school day. Your child’s well-being, safety, academic successes are theprimaryfocusofourprogram.Wewillmaintainthesamehighstandardsofexcellenceintheafter schoolprogramthat isevidentduring theschoolday. ProgramDescription

The BESD After School Education and Safety Program is specifically designed to create anenthusiasm for learning, while building reading, writing, verbal, math, and science skills.Planned activities are fun, challenging, and developmentally appropriate for each programparticipant.Tomaximizetheeffectiveness,theseprogramsareheldatlocationsattheschoolwhere the children feel safe and comfortable, such as classrooms, computer labs andmulti-purposerooms.

Adult/ChildRatio

InaccordancewiththestateofCalifornia’sAfterSchoolEducationandSafetyProgram,astafftostudentrationogreaterthan1to20willbemaintained.

El ProgramadeEducación y SeguridadDespuésdeClasesdelDistrito EscolardeBrawley fuediseñadoespecíficamenteparacrearentusiasmoenelaprendizajemientrasqueseedificanlashabilidades en la lectura, escritura, expresión oral, matemática y ciencia. AcademicSupportandHomeworkAssistance

The After School Education and Safety Program sites provide an academic enrichmentcomponentonadailybasis.Eachsiteprovideshand-onsupporttoparticipantsinavarietyofacademic subjects. Program staff members work with school faculty to ensure that theactivitiesprovidedbytheprogramsupporttheregularschooldaycurriculum.

EnrichmentActivities

While attending theAfter School Educationand SafetyProgram, students areencouraged toparticipate in a variety of recreation and enrichment activities which may include: arts andcrafts,performingarts,musictechnologyandrecreation.

Safety

The After School Education and Safety Program provides a safe place on school siteswherechildren can learn new skills, reinforce academic skills, and participate in age appropriaterecreationandsocialskillbuildingactivities.Participantsareexpectedtofollowallschoolrulesandprogramsafetyrulespostedatthesite. Violationoftheserulesmayresult inyourchildnotbeingallowedtoparticipateintheprogram.

Enrollment/Removal

Toenrollyourchildyoumustcomplete:(1)EmergencyInformationForm,(2)ReviewandsignEarlyReleasePolicyandcompleteanEarlyReleaseFormifnecessary,(3)ParentAgreement.Itisthefamily’sresponsibilitytokeepallpertinentinformationcurrent.

Youmayremoveyourchildatanytime.HoweverpleasenotethatyourchildmightlosetheirslotintheASESprogram.PleaseseethesectiononStudentBehaviorforprocedureregardinginvoluntaryremoval.

StudentBehavior

Eachafterschoolsiteusesapositiveapproachtodisciplinewhenthestatedrulesarebroken.ASESstaffwillexpectstudentstoabidebythefollowingrules:

1. Beontime2. Followdirections3. Comeprepared4. Keephands,feet,andobjectstoyourself5. Nobullying,put-down,orinappropriatelanguage

Behavior problems are recorded and plans for corrective action are noted. Parents will benotified if an inappropriate behavior persists. If a child continually misbehaves, the sitesupervisormay remove the child. If a child acts in away that createsa riskofharmand/orhealth to themselves or anyone else, the site supervisormay immediately remove the childfromtheprogram.TheASESProgramisa“threestrikesandyou’reout”program.Parentsmaybecalledtopickupachildifthebehaviorcannotbecontrolled.

AttendancePoliciesandProcedures

Onlytheparents/guardiansandthoselistedontheASESenrollmentformareallowedtopickupthechild.Studentsmaywalkhomeonlyifarrangementshavebeenmade.

EarlyReleasePolicy

Students enrolled in the ASES program in the Brawley Elementary School District at anyelementaryand/ormiddleschoolshallattendtheprogramfromM-Ffromtheendoftheschooldayuntil6:00PM,withthefollowingexceptions:

Whenastudenthasbeenabsentfromtheregularschoolday;

Whenastudentmaybereleasedearlyfromtheafter-schoolprogram(priortotheendofprogramat6:00PM)onlyifoneofthefollowingconditionsapplies:

Cuandounestudiantehaestadoausenteduranteeldíaregulardeclases;

Cuandoelpadredelestudiantehasolicitadoespecíficamentequesalgadelprogramadespuésdemenosdetres(3)horasdeparticipacióny/oantesdelas6:00p.m.enundíaparticular;

Studentswalkinghomewillbereleased30minutespriortosunset.Ifyouarerequestingearlyreleaseofyourchildforanextendedperiodoftime,pleasecompletetheEarlyReleaseForm.

Pickup/SignOut

ChildrenwillnotbeallowedtoleavetheAfterSchoolEducationandSafetyprogramunlesstheyaresignedoutbyanauthorizedadultwithidentificationorparentshaveauthorizedtheschooltoreleasetheirchildaspertheearlyreleasepolicy. Anauthorizedadult isONLYsomeonewhosenamehasbeenlistedintheenrollmentform.Ifasituationoccurswhereapersondoesnothaveproper identification or is not listed on the registration form, the child is kept on the schoolgroundsuntilapersonlistedontheenrollmentform,withproperID,comestopickupthechild.AllStudentsmustbepickedupandsignedoutby6:00p.m.

LatePick-Up

Pick-upafter6:00p.m.isconsideredLATEpick-up.

• If a child is picked up late ONE time, s/he may be removed from the After SchoolEducationandSafetyProgramforonedaybeginningthedayfollowingtheLATEpick-up.

• If a child is picked up late TWO times, s/he may be removed from the After SchoolProgramfortwodaysbeginningthedayfollowingtheLATEpick-up.

• IfachildispickeduplateTHREEtimes,duetotherepetitivenatureoftheproblem,s/hewillberemovedfromtheAfterSchoolProgramfortherestoftheschoolyear.

Ifachild isnotpickedupby6:15p.m., theBrawleyPoliceDepartmentwillbecontactedandyourchildwillberemovedfromtheAfterSchoolProgramfortherestoftheschoolyear.

AccidentorInjury

Accidents or injuries will be reported to a parent or guardian by way of verbal or writtennotification. Staffwill use standard first aid anduniversal precautionswhen treating scrapes orfalls.

When serious accident or injury occurs the site supervisor will attempt to notify parents andemergencycontacts.Theschoolwillcall911whenparents/caregiverscannotbelocated.

TheAfterSchoolEducationandSafetyProgramrecognizeandsupporttherightsofstudentswithdisabilitiestoparticipatealongsidetheirpeerswithoutdisabilities. Allprogramsitesareopentosuchinclusion.

EachstudentreceivingservicesfromtheBESDAfterSchoolEducationandSafetyProgramisentitledtothefollowingrightsand/orprivileges:
