Welcome to Paringa Estate

Lindsay McCall bought Paringa Estate in 1984, when it was a derelict apple orchard. Originally from a

farming background, he had a hunch it might have potential for growing grapes.

Many years of hard work later, it has become one of the most awarded vineyards in Victoria, with

numerous accolades, including “Australian Winery of the Year,” in James Halliday’s Australian Wine

Companion.

PARINGA ESTATE VINEYARD

The Paringa Estate vineyard is an exceptional site. North facing, the 10 acres of un-irrigated

rich, red, volcanic soil curl around the slope like an amphitheatre, sheltered from the harsh

South and South Westerly winds. Whilst Pinot Noir has always been the most awarded

variety, the unique microclimate also produces exceptional Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Lindsay McCall, and son, Jamie McCall, head the winemaking team. Lindsay is also in charge

of viticulture. It is his meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard, which produces the

highest quality fruit possible each vintage.

These wines express the unique qualities of the Mornington Peninsula, they are fresh and lively

with expressive fruit. The grapes come either from vineyards leased by Paringa, or a few other

carefully selected sites.

We source the fruit from the best blocks of our low yielding estate vineyards, some of which

are over thirty years old. Vine maturity, and skillful winemaking gives these wines power and

structure.

These wines form the pinnacle of the Paringa portfolio. They are the purest expression of our

unique terroir. The three varieties, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir, come from the oldest

blocks in the home vineyard. They are only made if the vintage yields fruit worthy of the label.

The reds are fermented in separate parcels in our three French oak 3,500 Litre foudres.
