The “First Friday’ monthly sacramental visits to sick, elderly and homebound will take place as usual this week. There are many parishioners who are unwell at present and I urge you to pray for them every day. I offer a special Mass for them all each week. If you know someone who is sick and who would like Confession, Anointing and Holy Communion in their homes every month please encourage them to invite me. It would be my privilege to serve them. I renew my invitation to parishioners to consider volunteering to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. The need is great but, so far, no new volunteers have stepped forward. Please don’t be shy about letting me know if you’d like some extra information or encouragement about helping the Lord and his people in this special ministry! Thank you all for your support, encouragement and ongoing kindness. I rely on your prayers, and I assure you of mine every day at the altar of God. - Father Conor Community and Sporting News Feasibility Study Update: Lisdoonvarna Fáilte would like to thank everyone who contributed to the study. Rev Henry O’Shea, a monk of the community, will lead the day. To book your place call 061 621005 or email [email protected] Bingo! Local bingo every Thursday night at 8.30pm at The Pavilion. Your presence and participation would be deeply welcome! Other bits and pieces from the Pastor’s Desk… a cháirde, We warmly welcome our guest speaker this weekend, Niall McDonagh. Niall will be sharing with us a personal testimony on his own faith journey, and on how a living relationship with Jesus helps him to really live life to the full as a young man in today’s culture. A native from Galway, Niall is currently studying for the priesthood in the Archdiocese of New York. Light refreshments will be served in the meeting room after the 11.30am in Lisdoonvarna where Niall will be glad to meet our parishioners. Our young people are especially invited to chat with him about ways to deepen their faith and to find joy in it. Our Parish Cemetery Sunday is next Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July 5.00pm Vigil Mass in the churchyard cemetery at Toovahera; 7.00pm Vigil Mass in the ruins of the ancient Church in Kilshanny cemetery; and 10.00am Sunday Mass in Doolin cemetery. I hope the weather will be good enough for us to celebrate these Masses outside in the cemeteries as planned. If so, I encourage you to bring along deckchairs - especially for the elderly. We may begin each Mass a few minutes late to allow everyone to assemble. However, if the weather is unkind to us we will celebrate these Masses for our beloved departed in the local Churches instead. After the Mass in Toovahera we will make a brief visit to Kilmoon cemetery to pray for all those who are buried there and in the nearby Killeaney cemetery. At the Mass in Kilshanny will pray also for the priests buried in Kilshanny churchyard cemetery. At the Mass in Doolin we will pray also for all who are buried in Killilagh and in all the ancient forgotten graves and Cillíns in our parish, as well as for all parishioners and loved ones who were ever lost to the sea. A brief Kilshanny Church Restoration Community Meeting will take place after 7.00pm Mass in Kilshanny Church on Saturday 16th July. Now that we have resolved the dampness problem with considerable parish investment over the past two years, I will outline the options available to us in moving forward with restoring and beautifying the interior and exterior of our beautiful Church of Saint Augustine. I am keen to get the advice of everyone in the whole parish who loves Kilshanny Church on what pace we should proceed given our financial limitations. In particular, I hope we might form an energetic and imaginative fundraising group specifically for this project so that we might be able to get the restoration completed soon and to a high standard. I encourage all parishioners who are interested in Kilshanny Church, and all who have skills and energy for fundraising, to please attend this meeting. Let’s place all our efforts in the prayer and protection of our heavenly patron. Saint Augustine, pray for us! Warmest Wedding Congratulations to our parishioner Claire Considine who was married in Lisdoonvarna Church on Thursday to John O’Donoghue of Dublin. May their wedding day joys and graces flow onward into their lifelong marriage. Special “Peter’s Pence” Collection Today for our Holy Father’s Charitable Works: Today after Mass there is a box at the door as you leave the Church to receive your special donations to the “Peter’s Pence” charitable fund. Pope Francis uses your offering purely for charitable purposes in the name of the Catholic Church to help people in need. Thank you so much for whatever you might be able to contribute to this worthy cause. PARISH OF LISDOONVARNA AND KILSHANNY CORPUS CHRISTI; LISDOONVARNA ST.
