✩✩✩✩ Stars of the Week ✩✩✩✩

Thank you for continuing to share with us the

reasons why your children have been little stars at

home.

Amiyhaa (Marco Polo) and Shaniyha (Cook) have

been doing extremely well in their activities at home

and cleaning up after themselves. They have also

been really understanding about why their parents

have to work in these hard times and also why

they've had to go to school. Our lockdown has been

really fun and a memorable experience as we've

made loads of memories that we will treasure

forever, and they've learnt some life skills along the

way too.

Ronnie (Galileo) for keeping his brother & sister

occupied with different ways of learning maths. He

also gets up every morning, gets dressed, eats

breakfast and sits at his laptop to do his work. We

are very proud of him for his discipline and routine.

Deen (Hawking) and Azeem (Little Park) are stars for

helping with clearing the dinner table after eating,

and being patient, especially since the beginning of

Ramadan. Thank you boys!

Noor (Hawking) for helping her Mum with cleaning

the house, cooking, and studying regularly whenever

her mum asks her to study. She is performing her

Salah and never wastes any food. She obeys us and

shows respect, behaving really well and making her

mum happy.

Ayaan (Cook) and Aryan (Da Gama) are my super

stars for being such fantastic brothers. They are

supportive of each other and give each other hugs.

They are super energetic and are doing amazing

learning. But most importantly they are kind and

generous and always ready to help.

Riley (Da Vinci) was finding Fractions quite tricky this

week but he was a Persevering Parrot and focused

really hard to get his tasks done. He also spent 3

days creating a 3D model of Mount Everest and is so

proud of it! (Rightly so say his teachers!)

A note about Stars of the Week.

Please could we clarify that Stars of the Week

nominated by families will appear in the newsletter

as they have been doing. Stars of the Week

nominated by staff appear in the online assembly.

Due to the numbers involved, they will not appear in

both. We hope you understand that this is to

celebrate as many children as possible.

Ukulele In and Out of School The children in school have been

enjoying the ukulele this week

and we have also heard from

children at home who have been

enjoying Mr Fisher’s lessons on

Getting to know… This week we continue to find out

about different members of our Park

staff in our Getting to know… feature.

What do Ms Massey and Ms Haidee have in

common?

_________________________

Getting to know… Ms Massey Where did you grow up?

Surrey

What are you most proud of?

My two lovely boys

What did you want to be when you

were younger?

It changed all the time!

What was your first job?

Picking strawberries on a farm.

What would be your superpower and why?

Flying because I used to have amazing flying dreams

when I was a child that I would like to recreate!

What was the most recent book you read and what

was it about?

Aidan and I just read 'Kai and the Monkey King' the

latest graphic novel for children by Joe Todd

Stanton. It's about a young Chinese adventurer and

her mother who go on an exciting quest to save a

village from a horrible monster. I would highly

recommend all his books, they are brilliant.

Tell us something about you that we may not

know.

I have a twin brother and I can play the double bass

(whoops, two things!)

What’s your favourite…

Ice cream? Chocolate with nuts

Food? Sushi

Children’s book? 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase'

by Joan Aitken

Board game? Articulate

Colour? Turquoise

Favourite childhood memory? Being in the school

play

Why are you proud to work at Park? The endless

enthusiasm of the children and staff! _________________________

Getting to know… Ms Haidee Where did you grow up?

Norfolk

What are you most proud of?

My children

What did you want to be when

you were younger?

Artist or archaeologist

What is the best piece of advice

you’ve been given?

I was once told that life is like a cauliflower, rather

than a straight line. The person meant that life goes

off in different directions and branches out in a

multitude of ways. (I didn't understand it at the time

but I do now!)

What would your superpower be and why?

To be able to fly. I always wanted to when I was little

and used to have a recurring dream where I flew out

of the bedroom window. It was a fantastic feeling!

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where

would you go and why?

Switzerland, the Alps. Incredible mountains,

breathtaking scenery, very clean air. Like being on

top of the world. I used to go walking there on

holidays, but I haven't been for a long time.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

Once when I worked in central London, I fell all the

way down the spiral staircase of a No. 38 bus. The

heel of my boot broke. Then when I picked myself

up again, I had to walk to work. But I only had one

heel. So I went up down up down. I felt very silly!

Page 3: park.newham.sch.ukAmiyhaa (Marco Polo) and Shaniyha (Cook) have been doing extremely well in their activities at home and cleaning up after themselves. They have also been really understanding

What’s your favourite…

Ice cream? Salted caramel

Food? Scones with cream and jam (and a cup of tea

of course!)

Children’s book? The Twits, Roald Dahl

Sandwich filling? Banana (scrummy)

Sport to watch? Gymnastics / Athletics

Sport to play? Rounders or frisbee

Quote? A person who has good thoughts cannot

ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a

crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out

teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out

of your face like sunbeams and you will always look

lovely. Roald Dahl, The Twits

Park Primary memory? Mrs Toffali dressed as a

giraffe, Mr Walker dressed in a crazy suit, both of

them dancing in the playground while the whole

school paraded. Magic!

Why are you proud to work at Park? Because of the

great community and working with people from

many different cultures. And the fact that Park puts

caring about people first.

Anything else? Be kind to everyone and everything.

Always.

_________________________ Getting to know… Mrs Atlas Where did you grow up?

East London

What is the best piece of advice

you would give to someone?

Always believe in yourself.

What is your favourite quote?

We rise by lifting others.

Why are you proud to work at

Park? I am proud to work at Park because it’s such a

positive environment, full of kind and caring

students and teachers.

Getting to know…???? Next Week

In next week’s newsletter, we will be finding out

which member of staff, as a child wanted to be a

dinosaur when they grew up!

Thought for the Week

Learning Power Focus

This month we are trying hard to improve

our cooperation skills. We

use the ‘Collaborative

Critters’ to remind us to

work together to learn and achieve.

Being cooperative, ‘Collaborative

Critters’ requires us to:

● listen to others;

● say when we don’t understand;

● explain things to help others;

● be kind when we disagree;

● compromise where necessary;

Page 4: park.newham.sch.ukAmiyhaa (Marco Polo) and Shaniyha (Cook) have been doing extremely well in their activities at home and cleaning up after themselves. They have also been really understanding

● understand that sometimes we need to lead

others and sometimes we need to follow;

● show empathy towards others;

● and to be tolerant.

Collaborative Critters in Action!

In school last week, the children worked together to

make a tricycle train by tying trikes and skateboards

together. They had to listen to each other and all

pedal really hard to get their train moving. What an

excellent example of seeing what can be achieved

when we support each other and work together.

Current Affairs

Early Years: Do we think llamas will be the next popular toy?

KS1 & KS2: What makes some toys more popular than others?

The toy world is in the grip of a llama obsession as

the woolly South American animals become the new

industry sensation! At the American International

Toy Fair in New York in February, there were llamas

everywhere! Knitted, plush and sequinned, small

and large; llamas on mobile phone cases and

swimming pool floats, llama diaries, puzzles and

even backpacks.

Things to talk about at home...

● What are your favourite toys at the

moment? Talk about why you like them.

● Can you remember any of your first toys?

● If you can, ask someone older than you

about their favourite toy. Would you have

liked that toy?

● Do you think when you become an adult you

will still enjoy playing with toys? Why?

Draw with Jim Field A few weeks ago we shared the #DrawWithRob

website and many of the children and teachers

shared their wonderful illustrations with us, inspired

by Rob.

There are lots of illustrators doing something similar

if you search on the internet, but one we were

particularly pleased to see was Jim Field, who

illustrates the Oi! series by Kes Gray.

https://www.jimfield.me/draw

Children, families and staff, why

don’t you pick up a pencil and

follow Jim’s step by step guides

to create some of our favourite

characters, including the frog from Oi Frog! Of

course, we’d love to see how you get on so please

share them in the usual way.

Finally for this week… We think that many of you would echo the hopes

that Adam from Einstein Class has included in his

Rainbow of Hope.

At Park, we certainly hope for all of these things for

all in our Park Community and beyond.

I hope for health because it is important.

I hope for peace in the world.

I hope everyone shows kindness.

I hope everyone is treated with fairness.

I hope everyone feels love.

I hope for my family to be safe.

I hope for everyone’s safety.
