SPLOST Success – Pennies for parksIn 2016, Gwinnett voters approved the renewal of the Special Local Option Sales tax (SPLOST). First approved in 1996, the one-cent sales tax is essential to preserving green space and natural resources in Gwinnett County. This funding has provided trails, playgrounds, aquatic centers, and many other amenities to improve the quality of life for Gwinnett’s citizens.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION Gwinnett Parks & Recreation believes ALL members of the community should have access to fun, healthy, positive recreation. Therapeutic Recreation offers specialized and inclusive community-based programs for individuals with special needs. We seek to provide residents who have physical, economic and orbehavioral challenges the opportunity to participate in competitive sporting events, specialized classes, creative activities and special events.

Specialized Programs are open to everyone, but are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities. Programs include sporting activities, adaptive aquatics, arts & crafts and much more!

Inclusive Programs provide reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities upon request. Some minimum eligibility requirements may be required in order to participate. With a reasonable accommodation, an individual can meet the basic need or essential requirements for participation.

AQUATICS Visit one of our award-winning aquatic centers or water parks for a wet, splash filled time! We offer a wide range of aquatic activities including swim lessons, water exercise, lifeguard training and even Scuba lessons!Gwinnett Parks & Recreation operates 5 state-of-the-art indoor pools year-round and 7 inviting outdoor pools during the Summer season between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Aquatic Centers indoor facilities offer a variety of lap pools, instructional pools, diving wells and spectator seating. The Leisure Play Pools are over flowing with lots of fun features such as beach entry, water play structures, giant water slides, picnic areas and more!

Pool Party Rentals Make your next party a splish-splashing good time by reserving a room adjacent to the water park available at all aquatic centers and seasonal pools! Contact the facility for more information.

Aquatics Guidelines • Children 10 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult (18+) in a swimsuit. • Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult (18+) in a swimsuit in the water and within arms reach of the child(ren). • Children who are not potty trained must wear plastic or vinyl training pants over their swim diapers. • All patrons who enter a facility must pay admission fee (even if not swimming). • There is no re-entry. • Swimsuits are required to swim. • Groups with children 7-10 years of age must have one adult in a swimsuit for every 10 children. • Groups with children 6 years of age and under must have one adult (18+) in a swimsuit and in the water for every three children. Parent Assist 1 • Ages 6 months – 2 years Water orientation class for younger children. One adult per child is required to be in water with child. Skills include breath control, floating, kicking and games.

Parent Assist 2 • Ages 2 – 3 years Advanced water orientation for toddlers. One adult per child is required to be in water with child.
