Click File (Alt + F)Click New (N)

(Optional) Click Name (Alt + N) and type image name

Click Preset (Alt + P, ↓) if desired and select preset size

OR

Click Width (Alt + W) and type valueClick Height (Alt + H) and type value

Create a New Image(Ctrl + N)

Click Resolution (Alt + R) and type resolution valueClick Color Mode (Alt + M, ↓) and select desired modeClick Background Contents (Alt + C, ↓) and select background color optionClick OK and Enter

Create a New Image(Ctrl + N)

Move pointer over toolView name and shortcut key in tool tip.

Display Toolbox Names

Click on tool that shows a small triangle at bottom right.Hold down mouse button until hidden toolbar displays

Display Hidden Toolbar Tools

To set color using the toolbox:Click Set foreground color or Set background color button on toolbox to open the open the Color Picker.Click a hue in the color slider (narrow band) in middle of Color Picker dialog box.Click a color in the select foreground color field

The name of the large field box at the left is Select background color when you're selecting a background color.

Click OK (Enter)

Choose a Foreground or Background Color

To set color using the Color Palette:

Display color palette if necessary (F6)Click Set foreground color or Set background color button, if neededDrag color sliders as desired, OR click a color in the color ramp, OR create a color using the color picker.

To set color using the Swatches palette:

Display swatches palette.Click desired color swatch to set foreground color.Ctrl + click desired color swatch to set background color

Choose a Foreground or Background Color

Click Switch Foreground and Background Colors button on toolbox

OR

Press X

Switch Foreground and Background Colors

Click Default Foreground and Background Colors button on toolbox

OR

Press D

Reset Foreground and Background Colors to Defaults

Select a shape tool or the pen tool from the toolbox.Click the desired drawing mode on the options bar:

Shape LayersPathsFill Pixels

Select a Drawing Mode

Make a change using the text tool or another tool that requires changes to be committedClick Commit button on the options bar (Enter)

OR

Click cancel button (Esc)
