Facilitator - Nakita Foreman IN TODAY’S SOCIETY, WE ARE COMPETING WITH BET, MTV, VH1, DANCING DOLLS, ABBY LEE’S DANCERS, AND EVEN HONEY BOO BOO! CHILDREN ARE DRAWN TO THIS TYPE OF ENTERTAINMENT. MY PHILOSOPHY IS, IF YOU CAN’T BEAT ‘EM THEN WE MUST JOIN ‘EM… BUT DO IT WITH A PURPOSE. THERE IS NOTHING MORE FULFILLING THAN A HYPED UP LESSON THAT INCLUDES SONGS, DANCING, ROLEPLAY, RHYMES, AND MOVEMENT TO HELP ARTICULATE TO OUR STUDENTS WHAT EDUCATIONAL CONTENT THEY NEED TO KNOW. RESEARCH SHOWS 94% OF CHILDREN RETAIN MORE INFORMATION BY THE INTEGRATION OF MOVEMENT WITH THE ACADEMIC SUBJECTS TAUGHT IN THE CLASSROOM. AS AN ESOL, GIFTED, AND GOLDEN APPLE TEACHER, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT I CONTINUALLY FIND NEW AND INVENTIVE WAYS TO MAKE LEARNING FUN AND COMPREHENSIBLE. A colorful teacher is like opening up a crayon box. Iam that teacher. I encompass sharpness, diversity,
happiness, and an unexpectedness that one experienceswhen they open a box of crayons. My name is NakitaA. Foreman. I have been in the educational field for 10years! I have a Bachelor in Social Work, a Masters in
Early Childhood Education, and a Specialist inEducational Leadership. I have my gifted and ESOL
endorsement. Even though I obtained three degrees andtwo endorsements, my experiences within the
classroom prepared me the most for the real worldof education. I’ve learned through my teaching
experiences, that teaching to the mind doesn’t matterif you can’t capture their hearts. That’s why my
classroom reflects that of a crayon box. It has anarray of different colors. Red for love, yellow forstrategies, green for let’s get started, and blue fordifferentiation. If you put them all together, youwill have a PARTY….. with a purpose of course�
