Aloha from the 20 cadets who spent spring vacation in Hawaii on an educational tour led by Lt. &)I.John Edwards.
-
God Made the Earth in six days and declared the seventh a day
of rest. . . except at Wentworth where
1. Thou shall worship the commandants. 2. Thou shalt not use profanity in class, 3. The Sabbath is a day for inspection and Parade. 4. Thou shalt write home at least once a week. 5. Thou shalt not fight on pain of death. 6. Thou shalt not have unchaperoned girls in rooms. 7. Thou shalt not steal on pain of blanket parties. 8. Thou shalt not misuse the demerit system. 9. Thou shalt get along with thy roommate.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy roommate's possessions nor his girlfriends.
-
Lots of girls, alums, a warm October weekend made Homecoming a bright spot in a busy fall.

Wentworth is not just like home, but it is a hassle we have come to accept (and some of us even to like). It is getting up too early in the morning and going to bed too early at night. It is having to shave and get haircuts. It is having to clean our rcwms and study our lessons and stand in demerit lines. It is learning to live away from home, to get along with people you like and don't like. It is learning to lead and to make decisions. It is growing as an individual while taking pride in our units. It's. . . Wcnrworth.

Wham, splash, whew, ouch! Action on the courts, the mats, the practice fields, in the pool. Saturday intramurals were really fun, and company competition was keen. Varsity sports suffered, although there were individual standouts.

Seniors As my senior year comes to an end, I can look upon the many
experiences that I have had as good ones. The weekly assemblies. Homecoming, Parent's Weekend, and Military Ball are just a few of the events that make Wenrworth so special to me and all seniors alike. As I
look ahead to the future, I come to realize that without Wenrworth I might not have made it. Thank you, Wentworth, for some of the
happiest times of my life.

Hmmm, wonder whose birthday it is today. Write your own caption .
ALPHA
Quiet, first sergeant at work. Happy Birthday, SFC Banda.

-
Life in Alpha has been . . . well, interesting. Remember when Garrett and Valenzuela set Fults* alarm clock ahead and fooled him into
believing he was late for formation. Fults was the only one on the quadrangle at 3 am.
Remember Garrett learning how to sound off? It only took him 290 pushups.
What about the rumbles with the Honor Guard? How about the time Lt. MacGriff threw three shaving cream bombs
down the hall and Garrett found out that they really do work. Remember Banda's 20-count pushups, my count? Or how about the Al-brothers? And how Lt. MacGriff hated going to Saturday night
dinners and used to march us up to our rooms instead? But the really good stuff happens on weekends. You'll have to ask
Banda and Alspaugh how to wangle all those med furloughs. Cough, cough.
What about the MS Ill's FTX and the way Smith shot a staff officer?
We were all STRACT for AH.

Nothing like good clean fun! Delta Remember that first parade when the cannon went
off and just about everybody fell on their faces. What about the Sunday night movies in that ultra modern movie theater.
Many of us will never forget those crazy contests like the one for the Ugle Man when Matt Johnson shaved his head.
Maybe we didn't have any guidons but we sure had fun breaking the rules, especially with a cadet who constantly ran away to nowhere.
Never will we forget that rat squad leader who thought he had tons of power. Who can ever forget those late night calls for You Know Who and You Know Who would never get up to answer them.
Life still goes on and we will never be able to forget the good and bad times, and especially the great Delta spirit to try to succeed — in our own way.

Echo Remember when Ash took a wrong turn into Gray's room one
night, or when the roof caved in at 8 in the morning and everybody had to haul all their stuff up to Alpha.
Who can forget the way Daniels got his name tag collection, or his wonderful late night visits with his flashlight.
How about our great E Company choir, and the time we threw Zambrano and Kaufman in the shower for a birthday present?
What about Fathman's great guitar playing, Richart's rat bat, and Capt. Valery on Rat Day. And how Boyd gave Commander Ellis problems.
Yes, this was Echo at its best and yet there's more. Like our 15 battalion orderlies and our steak dinner for winning the deportment guidon. And, of course, the song which says it all:
Echo, Echo, one and all And you know we're standing tall You've seen the rest Now see the best Echo Company meets the test. Echo Over All — Yeah.

Foxtrot In retrospect we all learned a lot about ourselves and others. It
was a growing expierience for all, counselors and F troopers alike. Holding the AWOL record and an incredible demerit table would give the impression that F Company never accomplished anything
good. Well, you are wrong! F troop discovered religion the day of the big blizzard. Everyone
was praying that our roof would cave in so we could go home. The company staff learned how to tic a tie.
Everyone's vocabulary was immensely enriched with phrases like "get in your cells," "you're stuck," "drop for 20," "we hate Smith,"
"you've got five airborne seconds." John Peterson became the only airborne qualified foxtrotter when
he jumped from the second story window. Ryan Schaben washed out at the windowsill.
Highlights this year include the day Capt. Palacios arrived from AOT and nobody could quite believe that he was in college . . . the
night Greg Georges in his underwear chased a burglar across campus . . . the night Searcy and Morgan tcxak their door off its hinges and
gave Bill a heart attack. Rowdy, yep. While the rest of you lost your sanity, we went
crazy.

Headquarters The Star Spangled Banner, Parade of the Charioteers, Drums and
Trumpets — a Parade on Broadway, How the West Was Won, Hymn of the American Revolution and El Capitan were selections played at
the final band concert. Best New Boy Bandsmen were Kurt Wipperfurth and Martin Beck; Best Old Boy was Bill Kohls; Arion Foundation Award winner was
Gene Wilks. The band traveled over 1,200 miles and marched ajtotal of 90 miles
while playing in parades during the school year. Among their performances were parades at Concordia and Blue Springs; three
performances at the American Royal, including a dedication by the Canadian Royal Mounties, and one at Busch Stadium in St. Louis;
concerts at the Positive Thinking Rally, the Marine Birthday Ball and the National Association of Cattlemen's Convention; a shopping center tour; school functions such as Sunday dress parades. Dads Day, football games, AFI and the State Drill Meet; and participation by individuals in
district and conference state music contests. The highlight of the year was the Festival of Music in St. Louis,
where bands competed for ratings before an international panel of judges. One judge wrote Capt. Kendall, "Undoubtedly you have one of
the finest small bands in the world." The band spent many hours in practice for a recording which will be
available in the Quartermaster Store. The record includes parade music and features the Centennial Symphony composed by Capt. Kendall.

Honor Guard Remember Teribury's high-squealed cadences and Fowler's famous
saying "I'm depressed" and Capt. Johnson's favorite, the leaning rest. Remember down at the old barracks when there never were any CQ's
because the CXZ wouldn't come down. And the parties we had after our CO changed to Johnson.
Remember that Saturday morning when the roof caving in woke us up and we marched up to Charlie. What about the greeting they gave us
with garbage cans, chairs, firecrackers, shaving cream bombs and water dropped from the third floor by Charlie's air assault squadron. Who can forget Ames, Iowa, and those back-breaking endless practices we had. Or the motel room we destroyed and had to
reconstruct.
