Our Scripture lessons for today have one common, encouraging theme: No matter what happens in our lives, the Risen Jesus is always with us. God is near to those who seek Him and who want to live in His presence doing His will. The Emmaus incident is a story of a God who will not leave us alone when we are hurt and disappointed. As Francis Thompson puts it, He is the Hound of Heaven who relentlessly follows us when we try to escape from His love. The message of today’s scripture is that the followers of Jesus are to maintain contact with their risen Lord through the Eucharist and the Bible. It also reminds us that our belief in Jesus’ presence in the consecrated Bread and Wine should help us better understand his presence in the Bible and in the believing and worshipping community. Fr. Nuestras lecciones de las Escrituras de hoy tienen un tema común y alentador: No importa lo que suceda en nuestra vida, Jesús resucitado siempre está con nosotros. Dios está cerca de aquellos que lo buscan y que quieren vivir en Su presencia haciendo Su voluntad. El incidente de Emaús es la historia de un Dios que no nos dejará solos cuando estemos heridos y decepcionados. Como dice Francis Thompson, es el sabueso del cielo que nos sigue implacablemente cuando tratamos de escapar de Su amor. El mensaje de la Escritura de hoy es que los seguidores de Jesús han de mantener el contacto con su Señor resucitado a través de la Eucaristía y la Biblia. ALL FINANCIAL COUNCIL MEETINGS ARE IMPORTANT. WE WILL BE REVIEWING AND VOTING ON THE BUDGET FOR 2020-2021. PLEASE RSVP. SEE DATES MASS & EUCHARIST UPDATE - 1.Scheduled Masses will be celebrated at their scheduled times at St. Mary’s in Henrietta in the main church’s sanctuary, without a congregation present. 2. Public distribution of the Eucharist after Masses without a congregation has been stopped for the time being. 3. Please go to our Website or Face Book pages to link on to the Online Masses in English & Spanish. CONTRIBUTIONS – Please mail your contributions via postal mail: to Mary’s Catholic Church, 105 S. Barrett St., Henrietta, TX 76365. You can bring by the office also. Make your check out to your Parish & use weekly envelope, please. Your Parish still needs your contributions. Scholarships – The Knights of Columbus are currently accepting applications from Seniors for scholarship. You will need to send in an essay telling about yourself. This includes grades, extra activities, goals for your future, what college you will be attending; and, also how you will follow your faith while attending college. Make sure you include you mailing address and current phone number. Please get these to any knight that you know. Mass Intentions – Still taking Mass Intentions for Masses held.
