Easter Message from our Pastor

We have passed through Holy Week and arrive on the day that the darkness has been clothed in glory, life and newness. “Another year” speaks to us of the repetitiveness of life, of the “always the same”, the awaiting of “until the next time” and this makes us yearn “for time to pass again” until the occasion repeats itself. We maintain ourselves without newness until we welcome the res-urrection. We continue with the daily routine, until we learn to be amazed by the discovery of each day. We will continue to live customs and traditions until we long for life in God. Pope Francis has told us on repeated occasions that a “self-referential” church is a sick church. It is to say, a community that seeks to be served by its members is a community that is deathly sick. This is why we seek to not be a community for itself, but to be one for others, from the outside, a church on the way out, in the words of Pope Francis. Resurrecting, for us, is to look for the new-ness of the Spirit that is given to us on Pentecost. Its’ to seek and make one single “community of communities”, that together we look for the will of our Lord God and want to be more like Jesus, more like the rest and less for ourselves, more creative from the Gospel and less repetitive from our customs. Good News from St. Patrick School! St. Patrick School students celebrated Holy Week with a special “Washing of the Hands” observance on Holy Thursday as we culminate our journey through Lent and prepare to celebrate Christ’s Victory over Death. Happy Easter!

Each of us, as members of our Catholic community, can con-tribute to the healing by remembering survivors of abuse in our prayers. The following prayer is from the USCCB. Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds and transform brokenness into wholeness. Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace, to act with justice. Breathe wisdom into our prayers and labors. Grant that all harmed by abuse may find justice. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

American Red Cross On behalf of the American Red Cross and the Confirmation program, we would like to thank the community for support-ing the cause and donating blood. St. Patrick’s was able to collect 110 units of blood, which may potentially help save up to 330 lives! Please know that the blood collected in our drive makes an immediate impact on the lives of patients in need and also goes a long way toward helping replenish our com-munity’s blood supply. Thanks again and see you all next year on Sunday, February 18, 2018!

Cruz Roja Americana A nombre de la Cruz Roja y el programa de la confirmación de nuestra parroquia, queremos agradecer a la comunidad por apoyar la campaña de donar sangre a la Cruz Roja. Se logro reunir 110 unidades de sangre, las cuales tienen el potencial de salvar 330 vidas. La sangre reunida ese día, hace un impacto inmediato en la vida de pacientes y tam-bién en reponer el abastecimiento de sangre disponible para la comunidad. Mensaje Pascual de Nuestro Párroco

Hemos pasado la Semana Santa y llegamos al día donde las tinieblas se han revestido de gloria, vida y Novedad. “Un año más” nos habla de la repetitividad de la vida, el “siempre lo mismo”, el esperar “hasta la próxima” y ello no hace, sino que anhelemos “pasar otra vez el tiempo” hasta que se repita la ocasión. Nos mantenemos sin novedad hasta que no acogemos la resurrección. Seguire-mos con la rutina diaria hasta que no aprendamos a asombrarnos por el descubrimiento de cada día. Seguiremos viviendo de cos-tumbres y tradiciones hasta que no anhelemos la vida en Dios. EL Papa Francisco nos ha dicho en reiteradas ocasiones que, una Iglesia “autorreferencial” es una Iglesia enferma. O sea que, una comunidad que busca como ser servida por sus miembros es una comunidad enferma de muerte. Por ello buscamos, no cómo ser una comunidad para sí misma sino para los demás, los de fuera, una Iglesia en salida, en palabras del Papa Francisco. Resucitar, para nosotros, es buscar la novedad del Espíritu que se nos entrega en Pentecostés, es buscar y hacer una sola “comunidad de co-munidades”, que buscando juntos la voluntad del Padre Dios, queremos ser más como Jesús, más para los demás y menos para no-sotros, más creativos desde el Evangelio y menos repetitivos desde las costumbres.
