“Wesley Church Needs You!!”

Some of you were in attendance on Sunday, February 5, 2017, after worship when the Rev. Don Greer, Coordinator of Circuit Ministries for the Wisconsin Conference held a listening session with our congregation as he begins to work with our congregation to “Re-vision and Re-vitalize” our church’s ministry. Don wears many hats in his position with the annual conference, and one of the most important is the work he does with churches in the conference to help them become relevant and vital disciples for Jesus Christ. And that is where Wesley Church needs you!

We need volunteers for two groups of people who will work with Rev. Greer for two separate purposes: 1) A group of people who can learn about new Discipleship systems that make it easier to share our faith in the current day world. The primary resource for this is the book “Simple Church: Returning to God’s Process for Making Disciples”, by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger. The book is an easy read, and here is a description of the book: “This multi-awarded #1 national bestselling paperback, Simple Church guides Christians back to the simple gospel-sharing methods of Jesus. No bells or whistles required. With insights based on case studies of 400 American churches, Thom Rainer and Eric Geiger prove the disciple-making process is often too complex. ‘Simple churches’ thrive by taking four ideas to heart: Clarity. Movement. Alignment. Focus. Simple Church examines each idea, clearly showing why it is time to simplify.”

And number 2) A group of people who like to work with statistical data about the neighborhood Wesley Church is a part of. This group will be trained by Rev. Greer to work with a computer program that our Annual Conference subscribes to that contains census and statistical data about the people who make up the neighborhood around our church. I know this may sound intimidating, but this data is critically essential to helping us access how we can reach out to the people close to our church and assess what their needs may be, and how our church can help meet some of those needs.

If you are interested in serving on one of these two groups, please call the church office (715-384-2292) and let Pastor Joel know! Now is the time for all of you to become involved in charting a new course for the future of Wesley Church!

Please pray about serving on one of these two groups! Your church needs your involvement in this process. See you in church! Peace,

Joel

Noisy Can Mission of the Month

Located right here in Marshfield, Shirley’s House of Hope is a Domestic Violence Shelter that offers and provides programming and emergency care for all women and children who are in need of shelter as they flee from domestic abuse and violence situations. Women taking classes at Shirley’s will study everything from setting healthy boundaries to managing finances well. The central goal of Shirley’s House of Hope is to help the lives of those hurting from domestic abuse to be rebuilt, renewed, and restored.
