Introducing “Offering Pew Card” This summer we will be introducing an “Offering Pew Card” on communion Sundays. The purpose is to ensure, in a tangible way, that everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the Sunday morning offering; albeit in an anonymous and non-pressured manner. While most people equate the word “offering” with the passing of the traditional offering plate, money is not the only way that we gratefully use the gifts God has given us. As Christians, our returning thanks to God for the grace and peace we receive in Jesus Christ is a daily act of returning thanks. And we all know this, or at least have heard about it over the years in our giving of our time and talent alongside of our treasure. In order for the offering time in weekly worship to be more meaningful to everyone: different members of the congregation contribute annually, quarterly, monthly, or weekly; it is important to remember the other ways that we return thanks to the glory of God. And so an offering pew card will be included with the order of worship on communion Sundays starting this summer. To prevent the use of the card from becoming “stale” by leaving it in the pew racks year round, we’ll give this a try once a month. Filling out the card will require only a minimal amount of time, but will provide ways for you to share how we are using the gifts God has given us throughout the life of the church and in the lives we lead outside the church walls.

In addition to being able to indicate that you have given a portion of

your financial resources over to the work of God there will be space provided for how you return some of your talent, time and “trees” (environmental stewardship). Then, once the cards have been received, we’ll summarize the results to be shared with the congregation in an informative and fun way.

SESSION MINUTES Session Minutes cont. New Business Session Responsibility for Special Events/Pastor’s Vacation Time-- Rene talked about issues with notifying staff when special events cause hours to vary from their normal r equirements. For example, if there is no choir or early Sunday School, Margaret in the nursery needs to be notified prior that she will not be needed at the regular time. We all need to be aware of how the calendar impacts the members of the staff. The 10th anniversary of Phil with the congregation is coming up this summer and something will take place at the end of August. Jerry Green is in charge. The heating and air conditioning is controlled by a programmed code. Terry Nelsen is the only one with the over ride code. Phil will be getting it so a second person will have access. Scripture Reading: John 13:31-35 The New Commandment Committee Reports: Board of Deacons: Pastor Phil did not attend their meeting. Building & Grounds: The all-church cleanup is this Saturday. Worship: Darlene Annen & Linda Foreman—referred to the folders for head usher for the month that were passed out and all that is en-tailed in doing those duties. The committee is looking for additional ways to publicize services for Holy Week. They are reading the book, which talks about bringing joy to worship. They are considering an additional way to using the passing of the Sunday morning offering plate, to share other offerings congregants give. Andrew Coleman’s’ organ concert is Saturday May 14th. Mission: Robin Olszynski & Margie Howard -- Mission is preparing for the Cancer riders coming this summer. They are re evaluating their financial support to the CAMP program. Treasurer’s Report: Bob Parkinson submitted the report by email. Joys and Concerns were offered. Prayer at the Close of Day was given. Linda Tuley, Clerk of the Session

Linda Howar , Terry Nelson, and Darryl Norenberg were absent. Clerk of Session Minutes of Meeting--Shirley moved to accept the minutes of the March Stated Meeting, S&P Membership Actions: Judy Pollow moved to remove Shirley Norenberg from the rolls due to death (4-18-2016). Psalm – 148 “Praise for God’s Universal Glory” Old Business Bob Parkinson checked on the status of the Rusty Roy cabin and it is now clear with the county tax assessor that the property was indeed sold and we have no connection to it. In an update of Acorn School—building is-sues with disability compliance, fire suppression and lavatory requirements would cost somewhere around $100,000.00 to accomplish compliance. A donor for up to $50,000 has come forward. Acorn would be paying rent and utilities. Linda Foreman moved to continue in discussion with Acorn and put money toward this eventuality if needed, Judy seconded and the motion passed. Reaching People Under 40 While Keeping People Over 60: Being Church for All Generations Session members discussed Part II (including chapters 3, 4 and 5.) Confession and Pardon

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN Circle 5 Presbyterian Women Provide Shoes for School Children

First Presbyterian Church of Twin Falls is committed to

demonstrating God's love through service in our

community. As part of their community outreach, Circle 5 of the Presbyterian Women worked with Twin Falls School

District Coordinator for Youth at Risk Programs, Jo Ann

Gemar, on the "Shoe Project", which provides new shoes for at risk and homeless school children in the district. Through

generous contributions from the FPC congregation and the women of Circle 5, 209 $20-dollar gift certificates for new

shoes were given to the Twin Falls School District for

distribution to children in need. Circle 5 also donated 50

blankets and 50 pairs of socks to the district's youth at risk

program. The Shoe Project was "a huge benefit to the district's children" according to Bill Brulotte, Director of Federal

Programs for the Twin Falls School District. Jo Ann Gemar and Bill Brulotte presented the women of Circle 5 with a Cer-

tificate of Appreciation and thanked them for their work on behalf of children at a special breakfast on May 19.

Thank You Dear Presbyterian Family,

As my second year of college came to an end on a brutal finals week I received a care package from the

Deacons that warmed my heart. Not only was it some much needed snacks, but encouraging notes from all

of you. This was such a thoughtful gesture that reminded me of the amazing family I have wherever I go in
