Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary Announcements from the Catholic Pastoral Centre

EMERGENCY RELIEF AID FOR FLOOD VICTIMS IN TEXAS AND ASIA Catholic Charities and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston will be providing

direct long-term assistance and case management services to victims displaced in flood in Texas. In Asia, Caritas organizations are responding to the needs in India, Nepal and Bangladesh by providing food, clean drinking water, and shelter. Emergency relief is also focused on preventing the spread of waterborne disease by delivering health, hygiene and sanitation support. Donations can be made through the Diocese website or cheques can be forwarded to the Pastoral Centre - 120-17 Ave SW. BISHOP'S DINNER Bishop’s Dinner – Bishop McGrattan will host his very first Bishop’s Dinner on Thursday, October 19. This year’s theme is ‘Youth &

Vocations - Their Faith, The Church’. Michael Chiasson will give the keynote address and Bishop McGrattan will share his vision for the

DIOCESAN PASTORAL CARE COURSE The Fall 2017 Diocesan Pastoral Care Training Program will begin on Tuesday September 26 and run for 7 consecutive Tuesday evenings

Okotoks Food Bank (OFB), Annual Fall Food Drive

Okotoks and Area 2nd Annual Fall Food

Drive Sat, Sept 16th. We will need

experienced Food Bank volunteers to help

out at the LDS Hall and here at the OFB

warehouse to unload donations on Food

Drive day Sept 16th. Extra sorting

sessions will be scheduled for 2 weeks after

the Food Drive, Sept 18-30. Please let us

know if you are available. If anyone would

like to learn or refresh sorting skills please

let Sandi know and we will arrange for you

to join a regular Sort Team for a session

during the next two weeks. Please call

Sandi at the Foodbank, 403-651-6629, for

more info about volunteer positions or to

sign up for one of the new teams.

St. James CWL Parish Council

Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday,

September 12th beginning with mass at 7:00

pm and meeting to follow in the St. Raphael

Room. All members are invited to attend and

to bring a friend. Immediately after our

meeting there will be a 'Wine & Cheese' social

sponsored by the executive members.

Mark your Calendars! Our Annual

Thanksgiving Pie sale will be held on

Saturday, September 30th and Sunday,

October 1st after all masses. The cost is

$10.00.

The St. James CWL Parish Council will be

celebrating their 75th Anniversary on

Saturday, November 18th at the 5:30 pm mass

with Bishop William McGrattan. Updated

information will be placed in the bulletin and

also sent to members by email. Invitations

will be mailed out to all members in
