September 2014
Greetings to everyone after this year’s Pathfinders Camp... Top priorities for
us are always to have a safe camp and a happy camp and in the main, we
achieved both of those. The weather was mixed - we had showers and sun-
shine, a glimpse of a rainbow set against dark clouds and the night skies
showed us the brightest of stars... Camp life mirrors those contrasts... It was
very sad to hear the news of Levi’s death whilst we were at camp, though as
many folk said – it was good to be together... The balloon launch was a
lovely tribute to a very special Pathfinder, and Levi will be missed from our
company. Our thoughts remain with those who knew and loved Levi best.
We’ve been blessed with another week spent together in the very special
place that is Woodlarks... It was really great to have so many of the New
Helpers from 2013 returning to us and those who joined us for the first time
this year did a fantastic job – hope that some of you are able to stay with us
into the future!! Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to Path-
finders Camp 2014 and looking forward to meeting up again with 'as many
as will' during Pathfinders 2015!!
Congratulations to
Shelley Dyer (now
Shelley Jenner-Dyer)
on the safe arrival of
Skye Josie Jenner-
Dyer at 10:54pm on
Wednesday 13 August
weighing 5lb 13oz.

Monster Race 2014—Woodlark Warriors
A BIG shout out to a number of our Pathfinders for taking part in Monster
Race 2014. The team included Gill Bryant, Hannah Leggett, Stacey Hughes
and Amey Wakeford from Pathfinders plus some of their intrepid family and
friends.
Monster Race is a 5k, 20 ob-
stacle cross country race at
Cornbury Park in Oxford-
shire.
The teamwork displayed by
the Woodlark Warriors was
amazing, and were the only
team who ensured they
stayed together across the
entire course and got every
team member through each obstacle—not that we would expect anything
less from Pathfinders!
The team raised £870 for
Woodlarks, plus an additional
£300 was donated by Dennis
Bryant’s skittles team.
Monster Race 2015 is on Satur-
day 18th April and 6 have al-
ready signed up for the 2015
team. If anyone else is interest-
ed in signing up for the 2015 Monster Race with the other Woodlark Warri-
ors, please visit www.monsterrace.co.uk. The Woodlark Warriors are tak-
ing part in the Cornbury Park event on 18 April 2015 and are on the 12
o’clock start time, there is an entry fee to participate of £42.
Speak to Gill Bryant for more information if you want to participate in 2015.
Yellow patrol, ever the intrepid adventurers, decided that having the entire pa-
trol sleep under the stars by their tent last year, just needed a little more ad-
venture this year, therefore decided to have the entire patrol sleep out in the
woods, in the shelter of the bird hide.
As you can see from the picture, this was a ―snug‖ sleeping arrangement, but
an amazing adventure for all involved, very well done to the yellow patrol, for
pushing the boundaries of the Pathfinders sleeping arrangements and really
doing something as a group that would have been a ―first‖ for many, if not all,
of the patrol.

Themes and Activities
If anyone has any ideas about themes for future camps or activities we could
do, please let me know, either through the Pathfinders facebook page, or via
email ([email protected]) and these can be put forward for
discussion at the various planning days. Nothing can be guaranteed with any
of the suggestions, but it is good to have your opinions as to what you want to
see and do on camp.

Woodlarks—a special place, close to all our hearts
Another camp has come and gone,
Another camp has passed,
More sweet memories we’ve made,
Memories to last,
When we walk these hallowed grounds,
A little magic is cast,
For new friends arrive and unknowingly
Delve deep into our hearts,
The bonds we make last lifetimes,
Bonds that will hold fast,
And absent friends watch over us,
Always in our hearts.
Woodlarks is a special place,
We hope will ever last.

PHOTOGRAPHS... Photographs are smiles that last forever Snowmen that can never melt away Birthday celebrations caught in amber Rescued from the vaults of yesterday Faces that were once more dear than diamonds Boys who kept you up until the dawn Houses filled with bicycles and babies Ghosts who left their shadows on the lawn Then turn the page And see the children grow The adults age The lovers come and go Photographs are holes in time's grey curtain Through them we can peek into the past Call upon our parents and our children Pop a cork with members of the cast There they are, the days of jazz and joy-rides Snaps of magic moments lit by laughs If you ever find my house on fire Leave the silver Save the photographs. Poetry
For those of you working, lots of
companies have community sup-
port funds that can be applied to
for funding for groups such as
ours, have you thought about ask-
ing at work about this?
Fundraising
Please all have a think about how
you can raise funds to help run Path-
finders, any small amount helps,
whether it’s collecting your coppers
(I’m sure Nicky will love counting
the coppers), baking a cake and sell-
ing it to your work colleagues, mak-
ing crafty items (such as cards, jew-
ellery or knitted items) and selling
them at your work or car boot sales,
or anything else you can think of -
lots of little amounts of fundraising
soon adds up!

places where you buy things online will make a donation for purchases you make, this
is a nice, easy way of raising money for the campsite.
