P A T H W A Y T O Y O U R U M D E G R E EConditional Admission is for students who want to enroll in a UM bachelor degree program but do not meet the minimum requirement for Full Admission/UP Admissions or do not have an English language test score. Students begin their studies at the English Language Institute (ELI) for intensive academic training.Requirements for Conditional Admission:

1. Complete an International Undergraduate Application.2. Submit a $36 non-refundable application fee.3. Submit official academic records showing a 2.5 GPA or higher.4. Submit a copy of your passport.

The University of Montana’s UP Program provides a clear pathway for international students seeking an undergraduate degree but require additional preparation in the areas of English language proficiency, study skills, and content knowledge preparation in their chosen discipline. All courses taken in the program are credit-bearing and by the end of the first year students will be prepared to succeed in the remainder of their undergraduate program.Requirements for UP Admission:

1. Evidence of sufficient proficiency in one of the following English tests:• TOEFL = 52-69 iBT• TOEFL = 470 – 524 PBT• IELTS = 5.0 – 5.5 bandwidth• MELAB = 62 – 73

2. Academic transcripts showing equivalent of a 2.5 GPA.

Students who have met the English proficiency and academic requirements may begin their degree program at UM. Fully admitted students can pursue a full-degree course load.

Requirements for Full Admission:

1. Complete the International Undergraduate Application.2. Submit the $36 application fee.3. Submit a financial statement that covers one year of your costs at UM.4. Submit an English language proficiency test score from one of the following:

• TOEFL = 70 iBT higher• TOEFL = 525 PBT or higher• IELTS = 6.0 or higher• MELAB = 74 or higher

5. Submit official educational credentials. (Freshmen must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.Transfer students with credits from another college or university must have a 2.0 GPA on a4.0 scale. UM Enrollment Services-Admissions will determine a GPA if one is not available ona student’s transcript.)
