Hi All, I hope you have been keeping warm over
these last few months. I have been to Exmouth
to warm up and I know there are a few other
members who have been travelling our country-
side as well chasing some warmth. I’m looking
forward to seeing some new exhibits in the com-
ing show season which is fast approaching. See
you all on the 21st August at the mee$ng.

John’s Jottings - August 2016
Gossip from down south— Colin Mazure is back home from his trip up north
complete with a little off road camper trailer. Alan Horridge is also back home after his
trip away. Kevin Lewis is keeping up my supply of rain water for drinking, not hard to
collect at the moment. The staff here are looking after me very well. Had a visit from
Brian and Dot Blum the other day—the toasted sandwiches that Dot brought were as
good as ever. David McFerran has been busy getting the hang of starting the Lister
that he bought at my sale. His grand children are now lining up to see who will get the
Lister when he falls off the perch.
Message from John Ayers as he was passing through Wentworth: 8/7 Bit lucky in
town today Fergy tractors everywhere a big rally tomorrow about 300 Fergys attend-
ing. It’s been cold as hell travelling up to now. Heading north shortly so hope it warms
up. 26/7 We are in Blackall about a K past the black stump tonight. Having a good
look around the country which is lovely and green all along the way. Only last week
found some warmer weather & sunshine. 3/8 Enjoying the hot springs at Mataranka.

Hello to all TOMC W.A. Members ,
We left Busselton on June 1st ,our destination is Canberra ,via Darwin and Port Augusta as we have not seen the centre bit. Our 1st stop was our daughter and grand daughters in Kar-ratha, and a meal of fish and chips from Point Samson, always a must do.
Detour to Marble Bar , very nice spot , added bonus of a puncture .
Next Broome to catch up with my brother and family ,plus do the tourist bit as well .
A beautiful camp spot on the Fitzroy river with very big bities in the water and lovely bark-ing owls in the tree above the van at night .
On to Derby and wait for the other travelling friends . I had visited a collector there many years ago , a few good engines but no one home .
Kununurra and the Ord River always nice to look at , the other travellers had family there so stayed on the banks of the Ord out of town ,starting to get the shakes , lack of cast iron !!.
We visited Wyndham and stayed at Elquestro station caravan park . A day trip was arranged to visit Home Valley Station just down the Gibb River Road , crossed over the Pentecost Riv-er , a very beautiful spot Back to the caravans down the very ROUGH Gibb road.
Crossed the border and stopped at the A.R.S.S. caravan park , very friendly managers ,wash your vans and vehicles . ( Adelaide River Show Society) , visited the WW11 cemetery also the Huitson park ,named after a Busselton man .
Darwin next stop , again staying with friends out of town , a 3 day trip to Litchfield N.P. ,and swimming in rock pools at the bottom of water falls ,very nice and cooling , it's still very HOT up here . At last , the shaking has stopped , a visit to the Darwin Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club Inc. in the old Qantas hanger and meet up with Leo Izod . They are not affiliated with NHMA, but have about 100 members and 6 workers !!. A very good display , well present-ed ,not only vehicles but also a lot of Leo's engines . Ladies Tap is Tree !!!. An unusual situa-tion , nothing found in shed any more the white ants and cyclones saw to that, and the Japa-nese came back in the 60's and took all the scrap iron , people went out in the bush with 12 inch spanners and cashed in . Very well worth a visit ,the shell holes still visible in the col-umns from the bombing .
Moving on now to Kakadu N.P. and down the centre .
Regards to all
Phil and Judy Scott
