Work Experience May 2016 – Date

London / Liverpool Paul Curtis Consultant

Providing geological support to a small consortium securing Iranian exploration licences with a view to making deals with larger companies.

Please note: Dec 2014 to Feb 2016 was spent on a world trip.

July 2011 – Oct 2014

London PA Resources

Senior Geologist

Lead Development Geologist – Broder Tuck Discovery, Denmark.

Led a full appraisal of the discovery and ensured a compelling case for implementing major changes to the reservoir correlation. This also involved managing and co-ordinating large Chemostrat, Biostrat & Sedimentology studies. Built a complete Petrel geomodel and recommended three development scenarios.

Appraisal Geologist – Turquoise Discovery, Congo.

Re-assessed the deep water channel sequences. I produced a new understanding of juxtapositions across the main fault that satisfied all data & gave a complete fill and spill explanation for each accumulation.

Lead Development Geologist – Fiddich Discovery, UK.

Completed all the geological work to ensure the winning of this licence (awarded with a record number of points). Fully appraised the discovery & built Petrel geomodel. Culminated in a complete development plan.

Lead Appraisal Geologist – Ekland Prospect, UK.

Identified & completed a full assessment of this complex, pinch-out prospect. Mean reserves ~ 750 bcf and 75 mmbc.

Exploration Geoscientist – Block 8, Greenland.

Our team assessed the whole of Block 8 (11,000 km2). Included seismic interpretation in a frontier acreage. Led to the identification & ranking of around 50 leads & prospects identified.

Feb 2008 – May 2011

Aberdeen Enquest Ltd

Senior Geologist

Lead Production Geologist – Thistle Field, UK.

Led a complete reinterpretation and built a fully integrated reservoir (Petrel) geomodel. Identified several new drilling options and implemented a 4 well drilling campaign. The first 2 wells drilled (in 21 years) improved production from ~4,500 bopd to ~13,000 bopd.

My report writing skills are concise and professional - I’ve written or co-written over 30 reports including regional handbooks, prospect / discovery assessments, field geology studies, dataroom reports, field development reports and relinquishment notes.

Interests and Hobbies: Health is very important to me; I regularly attend the gym and enjoy distance running (completed 7 marathons). I love hiking along the coast or in the hills.

Football is my favourite sport. I regularly play 5-a-side and 11-a-side, representing various amateur clubs in the past.

Geologist

Production Geologist - Murchison Field, UK.

Reassessed the field and led a detailed post-mortem report on 76 wells. Created multiple new opportunities, provided targets and assisted the drilling. Completed 2 successful producers, 1 injector & a near field exploration well. Led a produced water re-injection study. This included managing and collaborating 4 outside contractors.

Exploration Geologist - Northern North Sea, UK.

Assisted and implemented recommendations on 4 external datarooms. Reviewed and updated CNR’s Northern North Sea portfolio in order to make drill or drop decisions.

Mar 2002 – Nov 2005

Aberdeen Total E&P UK plc

Geologist

Near Field Exploration Geologist – Elgin Franklin HPHT area.

Constructed and enhanced a regional scale 3D geomodel built in RMS for exploration in the HPHT area.

Regional Facies Modelling – Elgin Franklin, UK.

Created a detailed 3D facies model using gOsed (pre-industrialised software in testing). Produced a detailed sequence stratigraphic interpretation across both fields.

New Ventures Geologist – Central Graben, UK.

Assessment of prospects, discoveries & farm-in opportunities including data rooms. Recommendations ensured 2 successful farm-ins, 2 positive relinquishments, and approval for one exploration well.

Exploration Geologist - Central Graben (HPHT), UK.

Assisted on the PGS Megasurvey project over 32 blocks, 5460 km2 of 3D seismic and 236 wells. A complete project, close collaboration with geophysicists on well post-mortems, sequence stratigraphy, regional X-sections, paleoenvironments, reservoir analyses, seal, trap and migration potentials. Produced 87 potential targets. Total actively implemented 8 farm-ins following the results of this project.
