Patna AttractionsRajgir
Pawapuri
Bodhgaya
Golghar
Rajgir (Rajgrahi) is the famous pilgrimage centre for Jains, this is also
known as Panch Pahadi. Rajgir is famous as Jain Teerth from ancient
times. Twentieth Teerthankar Bhagwan Muni Suvratnath's four
Kalyanka - Garbha, Janma, Tapa and Gyan (Juan) were celebrated at this
sacred place. This place was capital of King Jarasandha (Contemporary
to Lord Krishna & Bhagwan Neminath) and capital of the emperor of
Magadha King Shrenik (Bimbsar). King Shrenik was the principal disciple
of Bhagwan Mahaveer. Rajgrahi had the great strategic importance also
at that time.
Pava is a holy site for Jains located in the Nalanda district and 101 kilometers from Patna. An exquisite
marble temple in the middle of a lotus pond, the Jalmandir, stands magnificently on a rectangular
island. Another Jain temple, called Samosharan is located here, where the Lord Mahavira delivered
his last teaching.
Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage
associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya
district and it is 125 Kms away from Patna. It is famous for
being the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have
obtained Enlightenment (Bodhimandala). In 2002,
Mahabodhi Temple, located in Bodh Gaya, became a
UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Golghar is a granary built by Captain John Garstin, in 1786.
One interesting fact about the Golghar is that never in its
existence has it been filled to its maximum capacity and there
are no plans in future as well.
Breast Cancer Foundation-India
Dear Colleague,
Thanking you & looking forward to see you at Patna
Breast Cancer is a complicated disease and although enormous progress
has been made over the last decade, many challenges lie ahead. Estimating risk
for the individual women is difficult and most breast cancers are not
attributable to risk factors other than female gender and increased age.
One of the important breakthroughs that modern medicine has achieved is
to establish that Breast Cancer is Curable. The focus now is not only on ensuring
that kind of treatment that gives patients the best chance of survival, but also
on examining issues that impact quality of life for those who combat Breast
Cancer.
Breast Cancer Foundation – India is holding a national seminar on Breast
Cancer Management with a national perspective of developing a community
oriented breast cancer programme. This national perspective will call for two
sessions of intense deliberation and analysis of available breast cancer data
through breast cancer experts in India. You, a known and doyen in this field are
requested to grace this momentous meeting with your kind presence and to
make it more meaningful. The scientific programme is scheduled to be held on th th04 & 05 August, 2012 at Hotel Patliputra Ashoka, Patna.
We will highly appreciate your participation in this programme where many
issues related to the management of the disease will be addressed.

Yakshini
Set up in 1917, the Patna Museum is one
of the few grand museums in India, and is
committed to offering a scientific vision to
understand the evolution of history. As a
repository of ancient glory, Patna
Museum is, however, truly the cultural
pride of Bihar. This museum has the
privilege of preserving the holy relic
casket of Lord Buddha which contains his
ashes and other materials discovered
during the excavation of a stupa
belonging to sixth century BC at Vaishali. Among the stone sculptures, a special mention must be
made about the famous female figure of the Mauryan period, third century BC. Discovered at
Deedarganj (Patna), the magnificent statue is popularly known as Deedarganj Yakshi.
This is a fabulous female beauty in stone. The amazing beauty of this statue
has a captivating attraction to make anyone spellbound. The size yakshini
discovered by accident at deedarganj, Patna. The statue of Mauryan folk are
tradition represents. "The highest water mark of sculptural art in the
indigenous tradition. "In the right hand the female figure holds a "Chowar"
and the lower part of her body's richly covered with ornaments and folded
garments. Itis an example of the art of the transitional period between the
Maurya and sunga epochs.
