Meet Our New Principal After being principal at St. Xavier, what are you doing to prepare for working at an

all-girl high school?

I’m praying a lot! So far I’m surprised that

I haven’t felt many differences between a

school full of young men and a school full

of young women.

Why did you choose Mercy?

As a member of the Mercy Board of

Trustees for the last two years, I was

impressed by the spirit at Mercy. The

students and adults at Mercy really

like the school and are very loyal to the

school and what it stands for. From my daughter’s recent attendance at Mercy, I

also knew that the teachers and coaches offer high-quality programs, care about

their students, and help their students feel at home at school. I like being part of

high-quality organizations with strong spirit. Also, I could keep using my closet full

of blue and white clothes that have worked for all of my schools: St. X, Yale, XU,

and now Mercy.

When you were in school, what subject did you like best?

My favorite subject was English. My admiration for my senior teacher, Mr. Cahill

led me to become a high school English teacher. I deeply enjoyed the challenge

of writing clearly and reading.

HSPT Prep ClassFree for 8th grade students. Receive tips for success on the HSPT!2 options: Saturday, November 3 or November 10 | 8:30 a.m. (Test to be taken on November 17 at any high school. Register for prep class and test today at motherofmercy.org/HSPT)

Freshmen Welcome iPadsiPads are a part of the Individual Excellence & TECHknowledgeY Programs.

Mercy’s class of 2016 (this year’s freshmen) are the first students to receive their very own school-issued iPad as a part of their academic toolbox! Teachers and students are sharing all-new classroom experiences through the iPad’s amazing applications and sophisticated user profile.

In addition to Mercy’s iPad Program, Mercy has a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy, which allows girls to learn with a variety of tech-tools.

Included in the freshman iPad app package is the Complete Class Organizer.

This app allows students to store all informa-tion for each of their classes on their iPad.

Students can take notes either by typing or writing with the drawing tool. (Just like you would with a pen!)

This app also allows students to attach documents, such as emails or images.

Note: Using iPads in school saves paper and it makes your book bag a lot lighter (because you have fewer notebooks!)

Other freshman apps include the following:
