Calibration Processfor feeder belts on Fusion™ concrete batch plants

This guide discusses the procedure for making material adjustments to calibrate feeder belts on the aggregate blending unit of Fusion concrete plants.

Each aggregate bin has its own dedicated feeder belt. Each feeder belt is fitted with a Convey Weigh belt scale that weighs aggregates as they are fed onto the collecting conveyor.

Each belt scale is connected to its own BeltPro controller. These controllers are mounted on the aggregate blending unit, near their respective feeder belts (Fig. 1).

Section 1 Older and Newer Controllers

Early-model Fusion plants used a BeltPro controller known as the "Rabbit" model. These controllers featured five buttons across the top row, and a large diamond-shaped button at the center of the 4-way keypad (Fig. 2).

Newer Fusion plants use the newer "Nano" model controller. These feature four buttons across the top and a "Return/Enter" button at the center of the 4-way keypad (Figure 3).

The functionality of both controllers is very similar, and the following procedure is the same for both.

NOTE: The formula for determining span adjustment percentage, later shown in Figure 6, is different for the "Rabbit" and "Nano" style controllers. Make sure to use the correct formula for your controller.

Known Weight Total - Belt Scale Total = X X ÷ Belt Scale Total = Y

Y x 100 = Span Adjustment Percentage

For example:Suppose the belt scale records 20.36 tons, but the

material actually weighs 19.24 tons.

19.24 - 20.36 = -1.12-1.12 ÷ 20.36 = -0.055-0.055 x 100 = -5.5%

Belt Scale Total - Known Weight Total = X X ÷ Belt Scale Total = Y

Y x 100 = Span Adjustment Percentage

For example:Suppose the belt scale records 20.36 tons, but the

material actually weighs 19.24 tons.

20.36 - 19.24 = 1.121.12 ÷ 20.36 = 0.0550.055 x 100 = 5.5%

Section 2 Determine Span Adjustment Percentage

1. Start at the main run screen (Figure 4).

2. On the 4-way keypad, press the "back" button with the left-facing arrow and find the Batch Total screen (Fig. 5).

3. Press the "Reset Batch" button to reset the total to zero.

4. Run a normal amount of product across the scale, so that its weight is recorded. This weight is the Belt Scale Total.

5. Then, have the material weighed separately on a truck scale. This weight will be the Known Weight Total.

6. Use the formula shown in Figure 6 to determine the percentage of difference.

NOTE: Using this formula may result in a negative number. If so, be certain to enter a negative symbol when entering the Span Adjustment Percentage into the controller.

Section 3 Enter Percentage Value1. Return to the main run screen (Figure 4) and press the

"Menu" button.

2. Using the "down" button on the 4-way keypad, select "Calibrate" (Figure 7). Press the "Enter/Return" button at the center of the 4-way keypad.

3. Select "Span Test" from the Calibrate Menu (Figure 8) and press the "Enter/Return" button.

4. Press the "Enter Data" button (Figure 9).
