PCPal Your guide to network use at WVCWriteLab Policies (revised March 31, 2008)

These policies govern the use of student Electronic Information Resources (EIRs*) labs in the district. These labs include the library and any other instructional areas that provide student access to EIRs. Violations of these policies can result in prosecution and/or loss of student access to EIR labs.

A full account of the disciplinary action for violating these policies is in the WVC Student Handbook.

NO students can be in labs or computer-based classrooms without a WVC employee present.

The WriteLab is open only to registered students of WVC and those covered through cooperative agreements.

First priority for use of lab space and equipment goes to classes that have scheduled time in the lab.

Second priority goes to students doing homework and research for classes in which they are currently enrolled. WriteLab tutors will request that a student give up his/her position to another student with higher priority, and depending on demand for services, will impose a time limit.

Page 4: PC Pal

PCPal Your guide to network use at WVCPrintouts must be academic work. Students may

print one copy of any document not to exceed 25 pages per document. Collaborative work cannot exceed 25 pages per collaborator. (A four-student paper cannot exceed 100 pages.) Multiple copy printing is a violation of rules and procedures. These limits are clearly marked and enforced. Failure to comply with set printing limits may result in the loss of computer lab access.

Any use of the computers in Wenatchee Valley College labs must comply with the State of Washington’s Community and Technical College Network Acceptable Use Policy, which is wholly reproduced below. It is also posted on the wall in the computer labs.

For example, students may not connect personal data assistants, cell phones, laptops, or other information devices that can download software to the WVC network. Memory Sticks that do not download software are acceptable. We have “read only” CD drives. We cannot burn to disk.
