Math We will finish and PLAY our group projects where students will design math board games. We will revisit our financial literacy unit and students will be asked to start a business in which they will “sell” a homemade product of their choice. They will figure out price, profit and design a commercial.

Science We will be discussing animal and plant adaptations. We will also discuss inherited traits in plants and animals.

Reading Over the next 2 weeks, we will continue a novel study over Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will be reading about 10 chapters a week. We will take a comprehension quiz and/or a vocabulary quiz weekly.

Writing We are going to be learning how to write a persuasive composition. We will begin looking at ads in commercials and how they persuade us to purchase things. We will be completing a language review over concepts such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, capitalization and complete sentences. This review will be for a grade.

Social Studies We will start a unit covering Texas Government and Economy. Students will need to know the 3 branches of government and the purpose of each. We will also review the Texas Regions and characteristics of each. How to Help at Home: - Make sure your child reads nightly for 20 minutes - Ask your child comprehension questions about what they

have read - Study math facts nightly - Ask your child to tell you what they learned in school

each day - - Have child get on websites such as Think Through Math

and Prodigy to monitor progress/weaknesses in Math - -
