Civil Air Patrol Squadron GA130 “Ready to Roll”
Chamblee, GA -
As 2006 comes to a close I would like to
take this opportunity to review some of
the highlights of the year. Our squadron
has had a banner year. As a result of the
work of our staff officers and the high
degree of participation of our members,
PDK Senior Squadron continues to be
one of the most effective squadrons in
the Georgia Wing.
We accomplished a number of
milestones that I would like to review
for everyone:
At the Wing Conference in April our
performance in 2005 was recognized by
receipt of: The Georgia Wing "Senior
Squadron of the Year" award and a
"Unit Commendation Award", of which
only 7 were awarded nationally. We
commissioned the only "all-Senior"
Ground Team in the GA WING.
N426CP was flown extensively, without
an accident, incident or mishap – a
tribute to our commitment to Safety.
Chamblee, GA -
In the same manner that the Civil Air
Patrol makes the most of volunteers to
participate in “Missions for America,”
The Peachtree Dekalb (PDK) Senior Squadron of the Georgia Wing utilizes
the contributions of Atlanta, GA area
sponsors to complete its tasks.
and sponsored an annual cadet flight
training scholarship.

ribbons for their successful participat
in one (1) Distress Find and seven (7
Non-distress Finds.
We initiated 3rd Tuesday Mini-SARE
ES training missions which have
significantly raised our level of readiness to perform our SAR
responsibilities when called.
Approximately 30 % of our members
have advanced in rank this year.
Seventy-five (75) ribbons and
recognitions have been awarded.
We provided significant support to th

Drug Program in the North Georgia

PDK 2006 – From Page 1
Our Aerospace Education program and
our Public Affairs program continue to
be the best in the Wing.
We had 19 members advance in rank ratings, including two (2) new Mission
Pilots, an Air Branch Director and a
Ground Branch Director.
Verification of our efforts was affirmed
with an overall rating of
"Excellent" on our IG Inspection in
October.
So thank you all for bringing this about.
But as my manager used to say
after a good year, "That's nice, but what
have you done for me lately?" I amconfident we can not only replicate our
successes but improve on them for
2007. My goal for the Squadron is to
achieve an IG Inspection rating of
"Outstanding" in 2007. Only one will
be awarded in the Wing. Let's make it
ours.

All of these activities have either been
made possible or enhanced by the
donations of cash, materials or training
resources / facilities.
During a recent Wing SAREX, the
mission base (and Squadron meeting
room) was provided by Peachtree
Dekalb Airport. Exercise participants
were welcomed with coffee fromStarbucks. Ramp space for the
Squadron’s C-172 is donated by Epps
Aviation. As the aircrews found the
simulated aircraft wreckage, ground
team members (whose training was
enhanced by the resources of the Dekalb
County Emergency Management
Services) successfully engaged the crash
site.
Major Charlie Cayce, Squadron
Commander, “We appreciate the
support of our local sponsors. We
understand that their generosity results
from their appreciation of the mission of
the Civil Air Patrol, and we work diligently to continue to earn this
support. It's a partnership that works
well for the community."

NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS – All CAP senior members are now required to take an operations security training course, ainitiative that will serve to expand the organization’s homeland security role, CAP National Commander Gen. Antonio Pinedaannounced recently.
The operations security training, a course offered online, will teach members how to handle sensitive information related tomissions, capabilities and partner agencies. Starting Oct. 1, this training will become part of the new Level 1 training course.
“This new program will allow us to validate to our partner agencies that the members we entrust with sensitive information hathe necessary training and have agreed to protect that information,” said Pineda. “I’ve reviewed the program, and I think youand your members will find it both entertaining and informative. It will help all of us be more thoughtful about dealing withsensitive information.”
Members can access the course by first enrolling in https://ntc.cap.af.mil/login.htm The initial screen on the secure Web site wprompt users to answer identity-verification questions.
Once a enrolled on this page members may complete the course which takes approximately 20 minutes at
https://tests.cap.af.mil/opsec.
The training will conclude with a nondisclosure agreement, which verifies that a member agrees to protect sensitiveinformation. Each member’s agreement will be recorded electronicallyin their membership records, and will be required before a member can access sensitive information or participate in certainmissions. In the near future, commanders, mission managers and communications officers will be able to verify online whichmembers have the agreement in their records before members are granted access to sensitive information.
Members of PDK Squadron that havenot completed OPSEC training by
1/31/07 will be placed in the “ghostsquadron” and activities such as
flying and participation in ESmissions will be restricted. Please see
Squadron leadership if you have
questions.
